Be an interesting vibe around the club for the rest of this year, I wonder if they'd look at dropping Wighton in the back half of the year.

If they get to a situation where they can't make the 8, they should be.

Ben Hunt would complete a very good spine for the Broncos next year. Dragons supposedly looking for 1-2 players as compensation.

Word is it's done. Hunt to Broncos for rest of 2023. That is huge.

Apparently it's only for the rest of 2023 and then he heads to the Tits (who have a thousand halves lol).

If Beoncos got him for next year, we'd probably need to shed Mozer and/or Mam to the Dragons. I'd personally rather keep them seeing they are 19 and 20 respectively.

He'd be better off going to Cows or Phins next year imo. Both could really do with his experince. Phins would be best, seeing Townsville is 1.5x further from Brisbane than Sydney!

Broncos shouldn't be giving up anyone for Hunt, unless they aren't in the best side. Not worth it seeing he will be at the Tits next year.

The NRL cant just unilaterally bring that in. RLPA will be against it for obvious reasons. And top clubs will oppose it. They know the odds of a player requesting a mid-season transfer are much higher with the shit clubs. They, teams like Brisbane, Souths etc. benefit from the current situation and they also weild much more power with the NRL.

Who are the dragons replacing him with? Hopefully Lachlan Lam is returning.

I wonder if the new coach has a family member who wants to play 7.

Apparently nothing came out of the Dragons/Hunt talks today. They saying he will train on Wednesday to play the Sharks.

If he was to move mid season, I'd say it would take a week or 2. There will likely be a fair few moving parts. Where a number of decisions/requests/announcements will need to be made; with Hunt leaving being the final one.

    "
The Sea Eagles have announced a number of key recruitment moves – headlined by the signing of Wests Tigers halfback Luke Brooks on a four-year deal from the start of the 2024 NRL season.

Brooks was one of four key moves announced by the club, joining current teammate Tommy Talau and Roosters winger Jaxson Paulo at the Sea Eagles in 2024."

maybe schuster will be going to the tigers after all lol

Can you imagine if Brooks actually kicks on from here by going to another club.

Good thing they pissed Benji off, flicked Hastings etc.

If clubs are going to lose it pro-rata they will spend it so won't concern the RLPA. Clubs would just front load a contract or upgrade contracts earlier to save on the back end.

And who gives a shit what top clubs want, shouldn't be setting salary cap rules around what clubs want - whole point of the independent commission.

They have supposedly asked the Titans for Fotuaika or Tino in return for releasing Hunt out of his contract.

Can't see them releasing him to Broncos until they have secured compensation.

Absolutely, I severely doubt Hunt is still there at the end of the year. Whether that means Hunt is at the Broncos or on his couch in a new pad in Queensland, it's a matter of when, not if. It does Dragons no good wheeling him out every week when they could be getting miles into a potential Sullivan/Amone combo looking into the future. So Dragons need to do their due diligence in the meantime to ensure they are compensated.

As for Mo and Tino, they are dreaming. To cover Hunt's contract for this year/next year they have a bit of an opportunity to grab a few guys to really bolster their roster. They should try and get Sailor back from Broncos and a Sexton/Boyd and possibly a Fermor/Haas Jr./Tino Jr. from the Tits.

Its just not how this works. The NRL is not a unilateral actor.

Who would you all sign at Wests? Not much on the market halves wise, their record of signing ex panthers is terrible but I wonder if backing Kurt Falls in might be worth their time, or approaching Canberra about trying to get Fogarty out of his contract a year early.

I keep suspecting that they're going to end up getting Tedesco back though, something like a 3 year deal once he's another year older and slower as all they've got is nostalgia in their plans

Lachlan Lam obvs. Fogarty if Lam does end up going to Canberra.
