I actually think Green-Moylan could be a really good combination if you ignore their injuries. I know Green doesn't have a bad history with them, but ACL at 34 is pretty dire, and Moylan barely exists at all anymore.

Lafai and Beale are basically the same player with the same strengths and weaknesses. If anything I rate Lafai slightly higher.

I swear that's a troll article. Like basically everything the Dogs shouldn't do was recommended.

I'm genuinely surprised Beale still exists, lol

If you were the Roosters and looking at 2021, would you think about having a crack at Benji?

They were so close this year with Flanagan offering next to nothing. I'm wondering if they were to get Friend and the Morris twins for one more year, is it worth having someone like Benji on that right edge, either first choice or nipping at Flanagans heals? Keary seems happy to run the show and Benji would be great to just inject himself here and there and provide a bit of variety.

Or do they look at their squad and think they really need to look to the future a bit, take what will come next year with an eye to bringing through some younger outside backs, Lussick at hooker and back Flanagan in at 7?

Sam Verrills splits the minutes at dummy half with Friend for mine. I don't think we can afford to leave him in reserve garde next year, he's just too good someone will snap him up and he's a couple of levels above Lussick in terms of potential for mine.

And Sam Walker, young kid who just turned 18 will finish next season in the halves just depending on whether Keary plays the 6 or 7 role.

The spots of contention for the Roosters will be right edge backrow as Crichton really struggles with the technical side of the game there and has been an absolute beast at lock forward but you're not going to split minutes between Radley and Crichton so that's just a huge headache for Robinson.

We also looked a front rower short all season, didn't help that Liu had to cover for Radley but at the same time one player shouldn't expose us so badly. JWH, SST, Collins and Liu is still such a good first 4 just barely anything of note after that. Not sure if Robbo will go back into the market or back himself to develop some kids.

Borris and Jorris both tipped to play on for another season.

Tedesco looking like he wants a longer extension than Roosters willing to offer. I've never thought he'd finish his career at the Roosters, a 5 year deal for an outside back who'll be 28 next season doesn't seem super Roostery to me, have always thought he'd end up an Eel/Tiger/Titan/Dragon to finish.

Think Tigers or similar would try and come up with some kind of 6 year huge deal to attempt to lure him back and would it be a good move?

Can anyone see a universe where the Roosters would let him go early? I've wondered how their Sunbrero is looking going forward, Zero tackle reckons they've got Crichton tied up on a million a season for another couple of years and Keary on big bikkies.

Tedesco won’t leave but I can see the Roosters hesitation in signing a fullback until they are 34.

I’m not sure it’s a money play for Tedesco, I think he wants to lock himself into a high performing environment for as long as possible so I don’t see him moving to a club like the Eels/Titans/Dragons. There’s romanticism around going back to the Tigers but I could see that happening in the back end of his career not his prime ala Benji but I hope not, it’s almost slightly disrespectful to the Tigers fans if he did.

And lol @ Crichton being on 1mil. Only a sunbrero fan would believe that shit.

A quick google and the Australian reckons he's on 2.7mil over 3 years:

The story and bitterness behind the Angus Crichton saga is ridiculous I guess only Roosters/Souths fans would know the story to be fair.

But yeh Angus Crichton is not our highest paid player these numbers were so far off the mark and dismissed a long time ago.

Tedesco would potentially be welcomed back now but there's no chance he could do some Benji farewell tour type thing. He's not nearly enough of a Tigers legend, or even a Tigers legend really.

Massive NEWS - this is sarcastic

Gerard Beale has retired from the NRL effective immediately
Interested in a Queensland cup contract though.

So basically his manager couldn't even convince the Dogs to sign him.

  13. Cribbage RG Cribb

Nah I think he just wanted to move back to SEQ and couldn't get a bite out of the Broncos or Titans.

Broncos could do a lot worse than a fit Beale tbh.

  15. Boobidy BJ Gemmell

They currently have a lot better currently on the roster. Beale is a below average emergency outside back, and Broncos already have Kahu for that.

I've seen a few stories today reporting that flannagan won't be getting another contract at Roosters. Who would they be eyeing? Get Pearce back? I'm hoping they nab benj for a year

All the hype is on Walker. They'll probably run with Lam until Walker is ready.

Would be interesting to see them pick up an experienced half for a year or two while they were waiting on Walker. Benji is the obvious one but there are a few blokes who have gone over to England who I think would be an upgrade on Flanno too (at least short term).

This was always the risk of letting Pearce go for a year or two of Cronk. I said at the time that if they didn't win a premiership with Cronk there they'd live go regret it, and sure enough they won two in a row so it paid off. But this was always the downside.

I feel sorry for Flanagan that the media are making him out to be the scapegoat, this year definitely isn't on him.

But he just didn't excel in any one area of half play: kicking, running or passing. I feel like as a young half if you're at least good at one of those 3 you can build your game around that.

I find it amusing that people think he had a decent season, he was almost non-existent throughout large parts of our season where we were very dominant. I wonder if it's just the perception of being top point scorer for large parts of the season that made people feel like he had a better year than he really did. Sadly the goalkicking was the pinnacle of his year.

I think him not crumbling with the goal kicking indicated to the average punter he's got a bit of ticker as everyone always thinks about how much pressure is on the kicker and puts heaps of emphasis on it.

Was a massive ask of him to bring him in to a back to back premiership side with so many stars and expect him to steer the ship with a club legend at hooker and two of the best at 5/8th and fullback. Will be interesting to see where he goes from here. Wests will probably sign him on half a million or something stupid.

I think the age of their squad has a bit to do with it too, I think I was saying the other day about them having so many oldies, do they get someone like Benj and have one more crack next year, or start clearing ranks a little bit to really go for it 2022. Them telling Flanno to go and get makes me think its the former, but it may well be that they just don't see him as a fit for either progression.
