Player movements and rumours

No they don't need an elite 2nd rower at all. Glenn/TPJ/Riki is enough. They need a gun half and/or fullback.

They have 2 players on over 1mill next year. No way can Titans afford someone on 850.

Either way I named 4 props in my list counting Joe (whose status I am unclear on) without adding AFB.
You are set in that area

You named 2 props with TPJ and Carrigan.

But I asked about Joe? I counted him as a prop. I am happy for you to tell me he is not counted, I havn't heard the latest on him.

TPJ is half prop half 13. More prop than 13 on a side with better locking options.

Joe will most likely be gone in the off season. But if he stays, he should be a bench prop.

TPJ has been used as an edge this year, and only played prop when required to for injuries. Using him as a reason to not sign a top tier prop is idiotic.

We were planning to use him(TPJ) as our premier prop when warriors were chasing him six weeks ago

Ah righto. I'll think of the Warriors recruitment plans when discussing Broncos moving forward.

    I'll try a different tack

You Have Haas averaging 178 metres

Despite having him you are losing. Go forward at prop may be a concern but I refuse to believe it is where you should be investing $850K on a marquee acquisition compared to other positions on the field.

Brisbane definitely another second rower more than they need a prop. Even if Hurricane's arguments for this position have been at times unconvincing, he's right.

Lodge ended up playing a lot of (shitty) games this year, but between some of the rule changes that might only be temporary that didn't benefit him and the fact that he was actually ruled out for the year with an ACL but ended up only missing a few rounds, I'm happy enough to give it a pass. Hass still can't tackle, especially on his own line, and should subsequently be playing less minutes.. but he shouldn't be benched. Carrigan has nailed down the lock spot, Bullemor might activate his player option, and TPJ (if he even stays at the club, which I doubt tbh) is almost as comfortable up front as he is on an edge anyway, especially if he's gonna train like he did this year.

On the edge they have Glenn (who is passed it), TPJ (maybe - and even so he could just as easily move positions if the balance dictated it) and Riki (who has played like like 8 games and one good one).

Good props are straight up worth more than similarly good second rowers so if AFB became available Brisbane should think about benching Lodge (having Kennedy in the side is a joke, so that'd solve that), but a really gun second rower would be worth more to them IMO.

I don't think Penrith are better for having Tyrone May off the bench

There aren't any gun 2nd rowers. If a prop like AFB comes on the market, you have a crack at him.

Most clubs only allocate a certain % range of their cap to a position.

The more accurate terminology may be that they can't afford another starting prop salary because they already have Haas and Lodge on the books. If they're still heavily influenced by Bennett's structuring of a salary cap they're probably 10x over budget on front rowers.

Haas is also on a really low wage for what he would get elsewhere, get got signed up to a 5 year deal on around 500k. I just looked up and Lodge is signed until 2022, and has 23&24 as options in his favor. The Broncos are fucking morons, I've never seen a club give out more player options, a player option is a fucking lose/lose situation.

Moses is his manager, so its no surprise.

It's going to be interesting who goes where from this Penrith squad. They've timed a few signings pretty well, but I don't love their chances of hanging to to Luai beyond next year.

I think Luai will stay for under market value as long as the Penrith offer isn't like, half or something. He loves playing with Cleary (has done so since he was a kid), and if he's smart probably realises that he's a much better secondary playmaker than the primary playmaker he'd probably be made to be at a team throwing heaps of money at him. Souths apparently tried to sign him a few times before Maloney left and he stuck around then, so I don't think he's going anywhere.

Burton will go for sure though. Whare has a year left on his contract but I could see him being released early. Staines will probably bail to play 1 somewhere.

If this happens he'll cement himself as my favourite player. Him tracking down whoever it was after he scored last night had him high, but if he goes full clubman then I will have found myself my new Mitch Aubusson to loudly love and cherish.

Who's your team S&P? Panthers based on this convo?

Can we shift to a half Brisbane half Abstract conversation plox?

If a team has 8.5 out of ten props and has a free $1M in cap, should they upgrade their props to a10 out of 10 if a marquee prop comes along
or should they hoard their $1M and wait for a gun half or 2nd rower where perhaps they might upgrade that area from a 6 to an 8.

Talk money ball theory with me Boobiddy.
