I'm always pretty bad at picking scores.

That's because you're not very bright

Lol. Says the person who picked Australia to win.....

1-12 and 13+ is always pretty difficult when it comes to rugby, (obviously not easy blowout games). I never bet those lines, handicaps, yes, winners, yes, score no.

Oh come on. Australia should be beating Ireland. I doubt the TAB had Ireland favourites. I certainly wasn't the only one picking Australia...although I did umm and ahhh.

  5. Howe JHF Howe

Ireland were bookies favourites and were ranked higher.

  6. Rego RS Hutchinson

    Ireland $1.72
    Australia $2.10

    Yeah they did....

Australia should be beating Ireland at rugby union every time.

Yeah I don't get why Australia lost either I put the SA victory down to an anomaly as SA can travel badly sometimes. But they have just beaten the number 2 and 3 teams in the world. This is major news.

I realise that arguably Sexton is the best 1st 5 going around in the world atm but still - I think where me and Fiery are coming from is that we have been watching rugby for years decades even and have fixed opinions on who is good. Obviously we need to get with the times. Ireland are the real deal.

(I do remember Ireland beating Australia in the 2011 world cup but that was largely because Cian Healy and the front row put on one of the more dominating performances I have ever seen from a front row. They must have been spent afterwards.)

I think both of those posts are doing Ireland a massive disservice. It's not like they're the greatest team the world has ever seen, but they won this year's Six Nations and gave the All Blacks a hell of a game last year, so it's not like this performance has come out of nowhere.

Especially against what's a pretty inconsistent Australian team.

Even if Ireland weren't good, Australia don't do anything every time in union. Less reliable than France.

Little to be gleaned from trying to explain this to you I know when the southern superiority complex runs so deep

Australia have been pretty poor at times and Ireland are a pretty good force now. Bit of a shame we didn't play them this year, would have been a good match. Locals would have gotten up for it too after last year's game.

This answer can represent the response on behalf of me and Fiery as well.

I wish we had played them as well.

I stand by my first post though - me and Fiery's views are formed by decades of watching Ireland. And like I said in that post we need to get with the times.

Speak for yourself, Hurricane. I AM with the times ;)

Any self-respecting Aussie rugby fan would expect to beat Ireland every time. I thought they played fantastically against SA but didn't think they had it in them to back that up and beat Aus as well the next week. Pretty awesome effort and I may have underestimated them slightly. (That doesn't mean I can't still laugh at the Aussies just to rub it in...tee hee)

I really don't think they would.

Maybe previously, but certainly not before this game.

This is pretty much it. I had no doubt Ireland would win... I think Australia are a worse team on average than both Ireland and England without considering that the game was played on Ireland's patch. It's very clear from so many of the SHers posts on this forum regarding their International and Super teams in comparison to what we have up here that they underestimate us. Don't get me wrong NZ and SA are the 2 best sides but I don't think England and Ireland are too far away, and we're certainly better than the Aussies atm

I would still back Australia (reluctantly) at home against any NH team tbh.

  20. Rego RS Hutchinson

    I wouldn't.
