Nah it's just totally a myth. We've been playing rugby league 115 years without it being a penalty. We survived. I've never seen one where I actually thought the intention was to injure the player. You have to let cunts tackle.

is Todd Greenberg back? who's responsible for this?

I'm with you to a point. There are some "hip-drops" that like the crusher tackle and some cannonball tackles, where there is no intention to hurt, but there is an increased risk of injury.

I reckon it would be better to see them placed in a similar category to the cannon-ball. Where a 3rd man in swinging weight on the legs of a player who is no longer gaining advantage is an illegal act on the field. Where it's an unnecessary act as the player isn't going anywhere. Best example is Carrigan's on Hastings late last year.

And a 1 on 1 tackle should never be called a hip drop, RCG's injury and Dunster's last year were freak accidents, you see hundreds of the same tackles every season.

Sandcorp looks horrendous and we're only 2 games in.

I wonder what the overs and unders is for injuries on the Sunday.

Yeah we are fucked. Gutho living on borrowed time with his paper knees.

Tom Turbo looks a fraction of the player he used to be.

Not sure if he's playing injured or if that's just his new norm but sad to see either way.

Definitely wouldn't be picking for origin.

Stationary attacker standing upright who won't go to ground so the defender pivots their hips and full weight into the back of their knees to fold them is 100% a hip drop and adds no value to the game. Find a different way to put them to the ground or just accept your initial attempt was ineffective and give up the quick play the ball.

2023 Versions of the hip drop where the attacking player has momentum and is dragging players through the line I think are part and parcel of the sport. Going to happen, I don't think clubs can implement tackling techniques to fix this issue unless like Ivan Cleary said they just drop off the tackle which no player is going to do.

    jazman84 and Paddy like this.

This has been one of the most horridly officiated games I've seen in a while. Poor Warriors.

That offside call on Coates looked rough to me. Appeared to look ok when the foot contacts the ball.

    Massive by Mam.

What a shit way to ruin what’s been an awesome game so far.

Not even close to a hip drop, who’s in the bunker?

All the sin bins were a fucking joke. Grant should have been the only one in the bin last night, not a penalty try.

Fuck me, that was woeful defence from the Chooks there.

I just love seeing Roosters fold.

John Gibbs to a hammered Craig Gower post game was almost as good: 'craig do you think that sattler tackle 20 years ago was a bit of a hip drop?' while Sattlers standing next to him

Haha, seriously? Fuck the bunker in their stupid asses.
How does Paulo stay on the field after diving in at Tapine's knee like that, when he's obviously held? That's an actual dangerous tackle. Fmd.

Overheard in Cowboys locker room after Tigers game:

"He got me," Holmes said of Toa. "That fucking Toa boomed me."

Holmes added, "He's so good," repeating it four times.

Holmes then said he wanted to add Toa to the list of players he works out with in the offseason.

I've seen some bad performances from the Cows but that has to be the most fucktarded performance I've ever seen.

    Pretty interesting season so far

Trent Robinson thinks Sam Walker needs to go back to learn some things, but that Drew Hutchinson is ready to play halfback? Fair dinkum. And playing a nugget hooker as your bench hooker to replace the other nugget hooker in the faster modern game. He doesn't seem to know what he's doing.
