This hip drop bullshit needs to stop. Hopgood and Haas weren't even "hipdrops" and the fact that Fox commentary thought Haas was the worst of the 3 shows the clowns in there. Fancy having fucking Blocker calling the only Friday night game. Jesus fuck.

Relegate the Titans. Jennings did his best to keep em in it

Haas and Mam took early plea... I Thought Haas' was worth seeking a downgrade.

The Jennings no try is one of the strangest things I have ever seen in my time watching Rugby league… I can’t even understand what he’s possibly thinking.

Mulitalo owes him a beer because he made his bombed try seem normal.

The only logical thing is that he thought he was tackled when the ball carrying arm touched the ground. Otherwise there is no explanation I can see.

Apparently someone told Jennings he was in my supercoach team this week

Well that's a line through the cows with origin period etc coming up. They're going how I thought they would last year when Dearden and Townsend were their saviours.

Origin should help them this year as they should only lose Holmes and possibly Cotter.

Making a tackle is not by default playing at the ball, it is the worst rule interpretation in the game at the moment.

That last tackle, desperate blind offload out the back from Cook that hit the bicep of a Broncos player effecting a tackle being ruled a knock on by a bunker who can replay that play in 8x slow motion in high definition is a joke.

If we can rule on a defenders intent to play at a kick thats bulleted into them from 2metres away then we can rule on the defenders intent to play at a pass.

That towelling has been brewing all season.

Yep that ruling was a joke. It wasn't like he was doing a wide swinging arm tackle to block a potential pass, he was just involved in a normal tackle clearly not playing at the ball.

The biggest issue I have is taking the play back a full set to bin someone. Souths had a full set attacking the line, then they went back and gave a penalty and sin binned him. I'm fine with them calling him out and sin binning him for the trip, but if there has already been a full set there shouldn't be a penalty. Effectively punishing a side 3 times for 1 penalty.

Put Penny in the bin, can't score v 12 man Tigers.

In all seriousness, Tigs have turned up for once.

Well fuck me, was totally gearing up for a 13-12 or 16-14 Riff victory here. Massive win by the Tigers.

I really think they've got to give up on this hip drop stuff. I don't think there's anything remotely intentional in Soni Lukes last night or Ezra Mam's last week

There's a clear difference between these and the Carrigan/Nanai tackles. You can't be penalising defenders for these tackles on a player in motion. This whole "studs off the ground" shit can't work for the smaller, lighter players who are lifted off the ground by the force of the tackle.

They're a real chance at the spoon tbh.

Yeh I think they need to go back and redefine what they're looking for because there's just no clarity to what is and isn't a hip drop and there's no consitency in application of the ruling or penalties given to players.

Keary got charged yesterday for a hip drop, challenged it and failed at the judiciary.

This is the 'hip drop' in question; question https://twitter.com/marshall23_/status/1653373089437351936?t=gYqlSb0ilNhwUklDitLwpg&s=19

The fact that got reviewed and charged makes me so confused on the criteria they're looking for.

I don't subscribe to the theory the hip drop is a myth but we seem to be constantly expanding the criteria and definition. I also think sin bins and suspensions are an effective tool to eliminate poor behaviour/techniques but it's useless when no one knows the criteria of poor technique.

    Ha-haha, they're off their head!

    Fuck me.
