Yeah not sure what's wrong with the Milner signing. But then again people just like to try and make fun of Liverpool any chance they get.
i'm not mocking liverpool at all. whoever had signed him i would have lol'ed. In my opinion he is one of the most over rated footballers in the prem. how he was 50 caps for England is an embarrassment.
sure he works hard. i don't doubt that. but his ability on the ball is poor. pellegrini summed it up well, although i disagree with his conclusion. "he isn't the quickest. He isn't the best in the air. He isn't the best with the ball at his feet".. so what does he do? don't get me wrong, he would be an important player at a smaller club like West Brom, or Stoke or even Palace. but for a big club that needs to be aiming to get to CL football next season, James Milner won't get you there. In my opinion.
It's all about balance. You need players who will give you an engine, especially in a big game. Park Ji Sung, Fletcher, Ramires all fit that bill, and have all been integral to winning Premierships and Champions Leagues Is this just because he came from Villa?
funnily enough, i hate ramires too haha nah, although that would be understandable! I have always hated him. and Barry. I guess it stems from seeing them get in the England team despite doing SFA. in terms of the liverpool team though, where do people expect him to play? assuming he has 'guarantees' of playing in cm somewhere??
I think in any organization/sporting code, if a player doesn't want to be there, no need to try and force them to stay, they will only be unhappy and it will reflect on the pitch. If that person doesn't want to be part of the plan going forward you might aswell get rid of them while you can still get something in return for the loss of that player
Wouldn't be surprised to see Milner play L/RWB if Rodgers stays at times though. Similar to where Sterling spent time this season
I can't see Milner playing CM when there is Hendo and Lallana and Coutinho all who like operating through the middle. If Emre Can is moved to his preferred CDM position (Lucas is there as well who was pretty impressive last season and Allen towards the end) that means even more players down the middle. What Liverpool desperately need is an in form striker who won't spend most of his time on the injury table. We might see a reformed Balotelli if he is given the chances to start next season, he will work hard to cement a place if they don't secure a world class striker.
