Just Incase Anyone Missed It

    Two reasons for that:

    1. You tackle from behind most of the time, just piggy backing a cunt and pulling him down.

    2. You don't run straight at the defence, you spin around and dance so it's easier to be taken down.

    :p

AFL is closer to netball than it is to RL or Union.

I'm still not convinced on this hit. I reckon he knocked himself out on the ground/whiplash.

If you go through frame by frame, the initial contact is on the chest and then his face goes into his upper arm. I think most of the impact would already have been absorbed.

    GOOD HIT.

    Lolno.

It really is. With the only core differences been that its on a larger scale, you can make contact, you get points for missing and you wear really tight shorts instead of skirts.

Other than that it's exactly the same.

I'm not sure if you're trying to defend AFL or mock them given it's the most effective way to take someone to the ground?

All those photos illustrate is how poor defensive technique is in AFL. Those blokes are tackling with their chest and arms. Look at the position of their heads. There's no shoulder whatsoever.

Don't need to? It's against the rules of the game. And that's part of the reason why the defence in AFL is so hideous to watch. There's so little emphasis on the actual ability to tackle. I can't remember the last time I actually saw a textbook, midsection tackle in AFL. Nobody uses their shoulder except when doing a charge and even then it's pretty pathetic to watch.

So only AFL players with NRL experience tackle well?

If Burns gets sent off for his tackle, Inglis should have gone.

Karmichael Hunt is already the best player in the AFL. What of it?

Shows the skills of league players, I'd love to see an afl side with Carney, Marshall, Hayne and Thurston captained/coached by Hunt win the AFL competition, Hunt would just need a week to show the boys how to play.

If Hayne left the NRL today and started playing in the AFL this week, he'd easily go down as the greatest ever. It would not be close.

He'll be widely regarded as the best AFL player to never play AFL tbh.

Yeah, because they're tackling from behind, and we have a rule about pushing people in the back. You can't land in someone's back, or charge through someone's back. That there is almost perfect technique for AFL, pin the arms and drop your weight so they're pulled down and you don't give away a freekick for landing right in the middle of their back.

Sounds ridiculous, but what else would you expect from afl i guess

  19. Maroon_Faithful M Faithful

Yeah, it's not really tackling. Accosting maybe. :p

Honest question, but does a tackle in AFL actually result in anything?

AFAIK it just means a bounce up.
