They are just randomly signing any top player they can get their hands on and paying over the top to get them too. If FFP is even half credible then they'll be kicked out of Europe.

 

FFP would ruin any small hope we have of challenging amongst the top.

 

Doubt the UEFA one would have that much affect as you have a window to get books in order, before qualifying for Europe. There is some percentage leeway to make losses too.

But if a PL one comes in, then it could be a problem, though you can still grow organically like Spurs being a decent sized club. It's a tough balancing act tbh. One hand you don't want a Pompey like situation again and owners coming and paying absolutely bonkers wages on the other hand you want to give the clubs enough room to maneuver to grow by going in red.

Their are many possible loopholes as rules are right now though which a Oligarch can find if he is willing to spend that bit extra, to mantain the long term health of the club.

 

PSG have not been exploiting the loophole in a half discreet way though. They are taking the mickey out of it with a 150 million dollar a year sponsorship deal IIRC.
