January transfer window (football)

TBF, most people, when tapping up a player, tend not to leave a trail of evidence.

Can't remember the articles, but Fergie called it at the time, stated the Fryers to Belguim move was strange considering the Premiership interest in him, and the fact Man Utd were offering improved terms and the fringe of the first team. Flew under the radar a bit as there was more complaining about the Pogba/Juventus situation (though that was pot calling kettle black.....)


TBH, done us a favour, as the lad never really looked like he had much to him, another one of our defenders we've overpromoted who just never looked good enough for us (Simpson, Bardsley, De Laet, Danny Fucking Pugh)

Climate can affect a game, playing in Rio is different to playing in Rochdale. However its not like the Brazilian players will need to acclimatize for a competition in Brazil, so it is an odd reason to give.

Though I suppose being based at home pushes them to the front of the coaches mind: Brazil tend to pick more home based players in friendlies rather than drag their stars halfway across the world if they don't need to, as all there will be is friendlies for a few years, it might play to their advantage to be based at home rather than Italy/Spain (I can't see Brazil playing many friendlies in neutral countries like in the past, as most opponents will be happy to come to them)
