Our clubs put in a decent show. It is an outstanding league considering it's 4 seasons old.

Yeah Gold Coast played great...dunno bout that Victory team though...they are pretty rubbish :p.

  4. MatthewJay TA Miokovic

Haha, we dominated the first 30 mins. Second half didn't really count seeing as about 8 subs were made.

Hodgson obviously hasnt had to suffer from watching two A-league teams go at it with the kick and chase tactics while listening to the a-league commentators as they slowly kill you with there absolute shitness.

painful yet true, nothing more frustrateing its like watching coca cola leauge 2

Although the quality of the A-League is slowly improving, season by season, the quality of commentary remains stagnant, if not worsening. Andy Harper is the worst culprit when it comes to this.

If only we could have a whole commentary team of Simon Hills and Martin Tylers.

Agree with this. Won't waste my time going to the Westpac to watch the Phoenix again (unless I'm invited to a corporate box for the umpteenth time.)

    Still...

Phoenix shouldn't even be in the competition AFAIC. It's the A-League not the ANZ-League. New Zealand should have their own football league like the rest of the world and stop mooching off Australia all the time.

    Agreed

NZ get a ****ing team yet western sydney don't.

Yeah im preety sure they do have there own semi professional leauge, and if wellington continue in there crapness and the NZ boys continue to not gie them enough support i can see them getting ditched. However i think we need more teams not less teams in the leauge

The Knights have failed and now the Phoenix are slowly starting to fail as well, financially speaking. Please reveal unto me the reasons as to why Wellington get a team over Western Sydney, South Melbourne or Canberra.

You insular little shit. Kick out the Phoenix, kick out the Warriors and kick out the ****ing Jams. Australia owns most of New Zealand these days. The two countries are intrinsically linked, but hey you keep going on about NZ mooching off Australia when most of the money made here wings its way over to Australia. If we're mooching, then you're a leech.

The TV market is extended to the whole of NZ for a start, sherlock. Yeah, there's only 4 million here, and that's less than some of these areas but Canberra - you're joking.

  15. stupersteve03 SJ Cambridge

Because they didnt want to flood markets, obviously though one fully proffesional football team in new zealand is flooding, but dont worry, at the very least western sydney and melbourne will both have teams in the next two seasons, and i would imagine that if wellington continue to be themselves that canberra will get a team as well

  16. MatthewJay TA Miokovic

Tasmania should have had a team before NZ or a state getting two teams.

  17. MatthewJay TA Miokovic

Adelaide will definitely double up aswell.

 you mean we get your debts, how marvelous, if this is the way you think get your government to cede sovriegnty to australia, then you will be all good

I wasn't talking about the NRL or whatever the **** the Jams are.

Every nation on the planet has its own professional top flight football league. This is the norm in the sport of football - which you said before that you hate so I don't know why you bother to post in football-related threads. If ****ing Tajikistan and Mongolia can have their own professional football leagues, then so can New Zealand, rather than making themselves feel at home in the A-League.

The fact of the matter remains that football in New Zealand is in a disgraceful position. Support for the Knights and now the Phoenix is very low and the clubs are in financial distress. Furthermore, there are at least 3 or 4 other hot spots in Australia which deserve a football team much more than any city in New Zealand.

But you wouldn't understand, seeing as football is a "poncey sport" for "overpaid prima donnas". ;)

I think a tassie team would be good if we actually played in the right season, as there is no winter sport in tasmania at all, but im not sure if they have the resources for it just yet
