Excluding the obvious candidates and regulars, who do you think deserves a place? Thinking of the likes of Lambert, Holt, Osman, etc.
Fucking Lambert did an April Fools saying he was making himself eligible for NZ thanks to his Kiwi grandfather. I bought it. So he can GAGF.
Adam Lallana. Jay Rodriguez is doing pretty well since moving to a forward position and will probably suit Roy's system more than Defoe or Carroll type strikers. Wilfred Zaha if he counts, especially as a impact sub.
Corks probably got a future in a sort of Scott Parker style role Clyne and Shaw both look like they've got some goods as well Bit strange with all these Southampton players
Not sure about Cork tbh, but yeah the other 2 have pretty good potential. Though probably not ready to come into the squad yet. They have Ward-Prowse coming through as well.
Lambert's clearly a better footballer than Defoe or Carroll imo. Luke Shaw also has ridiculous levels of potential- are there any younger first-team PL regulars? Freaks me out that he's the same age as someone I can remember being born.
Southampton have a ridiculous scouting network throughout the UK, probably put twice as much effort in as the next best team. My friends brother in law works in the North West for them. He's constantly watching games at all age levels, and he's watching players already scouted as being worth a second look. He'll then pass it up to another scout who'll make the final call
As far as out of Premier League players go I reckon Sam Byram is a gun. Watched him pretty closely this season and I reckon he'll cut it in the prem if a club comes in for him during the transfer window. Tipping he'll be all the hype next year, done the perfect apprenticeship at Leeds just needs a decent club to come and pick him up. More than handled the step up in class when we played Man City & Spurs, had Bale covered for speed which is impressive.
Build the team around him and he could be a monster. However, only a few clubs play the style of football that best suits him, one being West Ham.
He's a limited footballer. Just is big and throws himself around. Just a bigger rich man's Kevin Davies. Mid table at best. There's no way England should be building anything around him unless they want to go route 1 completely after failing at the other stuff.
