The paki comment and reaction did happen and I think that was the thing that has people put off. Only Boobs called him a terrorist, and he didn't even react to that so I think that's irrelevant. The problem, I think, is the way he reacted to Alex who said "get out paki"; Saying Alex had no life calling him a Paki. I can understand being offended by the comment but it was completely out of the blue and it didn't really need to be taken so seriously, or reacted to in that way. Two wrongs don't make a right. Proceeding to call everyone "internet thugs" did him absolutely no favours. Once was bad enough, repeating it again after no more aggresive comments had been made, just dug a deeper hole.
People attacked him. "get out paki" is obviously pretty deep-cutting for the guy considering "paki" is considered racist where he lives. He attacked back. It wasn't even an attack but he didn't just meekly bow down. The internet thugs thing obviously made him look a bit childish, but he's a n00b and he'll get better (have you seen how I used to post>.>). If it is the fact that he stood up for himself that is making clubs not sign him then it's so hypocritical given that cricsim is built around an ethos of shit-throwing. Stickes have said that it was due to other reasons, anyway.
So instead of picking up a batting allrounder that obviously wouldn't fit in at the Gamblers, you pick up an unsigned member of the Gamblers (who hasn't even played a game since he signed for them!) which will probably leave you without a fifth bowling option in your top seven. All because SM is a bit of a dickhead. And that too after expressing your concerns about an "unbalanced Second XI" ffs. Great work.
Didn't even know he'd been at the Gamblers. Just clicked through to his profile and assumed he'd been one of the unsigned players. I would've been more open to signing bv if he weren't an opener. It's not just from SM either. It's a trend I've noticed since Benny. We've had him, Das, Dorn, Mousey and Cevno all leave the club, and I imagine that part of that is because I was ahead of them in firsts.
Signing another one of the gamblers emerging lads. poor form, imo. they're struggling enough as it is! especially with unsigned lads like akram going without a club. he's hardly ever going to be in the same desirability for other clubs echelon like mousey/dorn/cevno/others i forget anyway etc. ah well.
I was shit when I played for the Stickies, I stood no chance of making the First XI back then. I just left because I got an offer from the Vipers and I wanted to join them.
It's not the reason Mousey or Cevno left the club at all. Ask them. And bvd is a middle order batsman I actually would've copped the "I thought he was a bit of a cunt" reason a lot more. This reasoning is just absolutely stupid. Say you're worried about having an unbalanced ALC side, but then knock back a chance to sign a batting allrounder in order to pinch an absolute rookie batsman from a team that will almost certainly delay the season even though it'll mean you don't have a fifth bowling option.

Only went for him on Athers insistence as he's meant to be gun. IIRC we only have four spaces left and all of them are expected to be filled. Unless Kovas doesn't sign then we really don't need him.
As it's become evident that the clubs with space won't be signing him for various reasons, then I'll let it be known that Akram won't count towards the 25-man limit for any club that wants to sign him.
It's an old boys club, not really conducive to n00b development at all. You were always going to struggle when/if your legends started becoming less active.
Had I not been at the club, or even in the same role at the club, I firmly believe that some of those players could still be around and actually helping to run the club. BV's rego post had 1st, 5th listed as his batting position. I assumed he'd be a top order player. As I said with JP, I didn't know he was ever a Gambler when I approached him. If he wants to go there, the Gamblers want him, and BV wants to come to us then we'll do it.
As Cribb said, I didn't leave because of that at all. Would have stayed if I wasn't offered the opportunity to run the Pumas.
