He's not a great defender, he really isn't a great tackler. He's a poor man's Gareth Barry and Barry's hardly excellent.

Well 10/110 games = 1/11 games.
That equates to just over 3 goals a season, not every single goal he's scored for United will have been a crucial one. So to use the idea "he scores crucial goals for United" is a little desparate.

Vieira offered so much elsewhere that if he'd scored 0 goals he'd have still been 100x the midfielder Carrick is.
The fact is I said Carrick is one dimensional, to which you said "he scores some very important goals and crops up at the right time". He does it 3 times a season FFS, hardly anything to get excited about. So much so it's hardly worth mentioning, like people don't mention goal scoring as a strong aspect of Vieira's game.

Yes but that only works when he's playing alongside somebody that can tackle. If Carrick is playing for England it's going to be alongside somebody who's much more attacking minded and if Carrick isn't going to tackle it's going to leave us exposed through the middle.
In all honesty you can't be that special defesnively if you can't tackle. It's a pretty big part of being a defensive player. For all you want to talk him up, Carrick's passing game isn't that great. Sure he can pass the ball 20 yards but so can anoy centre midfielder worth his salt. He's not that great a distributor of the ball and often in big matches he disappears.

He's so ****ing ovverrated IMO and before anybody says I know it's not just my opinion.

 

Where did I say Walcott is the best RM in the country? I think I said I'd start Lennon ahead of him.
Also the whole time, I've been arguing that Capello would pick Walcott in his squad and not SWP. I gave a whole host of reasons, one of which nobody has even been able to begin to argue is that Walcott was first choice before he got injured. So it's pretty darn likely he'll be picked again.

Carrick's a meh player, not particularly great at anything.
