Jingoistic passions? Are you fucking serious? What a fucking stupid phrase to use. You're an ignorant cunt sometimes.

    Eh?

What's wrong with that? Patriotic passions inspired by the love of your country.

Politicians stoke them again and again across the world. In any case not having a debate about something irrelevant with you again which is not even related to the issue. And it is certainly not me who is being ignorant to the larger world picture here.

Cevno you pay your respects to your own war dead however you want.

We'll pay our respects to our war dead the way we want. Nothing you can ever say will change that. You have no right to judge how we pay our respects. Every country is dead, and most of our war dead died doing the right thing and protecting this country. You're not even remotely British, you cannot judge this country based on the fact you support an English footbal team. Leave us to pay our respects in peace. This isnt a political issue, its a long tradition in this country where we our proud to honour those who have given their lives for our freedom.

    'Lest we forget'

That's all fair and fine, and never disputed that(don't want to debate that either) but FIFA is supposed to be a International football organisation for all the World(Who can't make subjective judgement based on political situations) and a International football match is an international event administered by them where everyone is equal(even North Korea/Syria who have dastardly dictators). All i said was that i could understand their objection on the matter hand, i.e use of it in that event.

The only real explanation you or anyone has given is that you cannot understand not being British, should rally against FIFA, it's a way to pay tribute to War heroes etc.. which i agree with in any case and are besides the point. Also that article was written by a Britisher too and made some good points i felt.

Anyways, since a compromise has been reached no point going on about it. Only interested know in what happens with respect to other situations/countries.

Very touching but why does he have no right to judge?

I'll make it clearer for you.

If any nation is celebrating it's national day of Remembrance, then that nations sporting teams should have the right to show it's respects too. This bullshit about North Korea playing South Korea is stupid and you should know better. These countries refuse to accept each others existence, but you think they'll play a football game on their national remembrance day? Come up with a realistic scenario. You're basically saying Germany should be massively insulted about Remembrance Day, Turkey likewise about ANZAC Day. Great Britain about Independence Day ffs.

FIFA wants to stay completely apolitical, fair enough. Remembrance Day isn't a political statement at all though, just because there is the chance of drama coming about from somebody using it the wrong way. Well here's an idea, ignore it. You're a fucking organisation to promote/regulate football not dictate what an acceptable way to remember people who died in war.

Never said that ftr. And i am not sure how those comparisons are valid too.

Also, North Korea and South Korea have played have played each other atleast 3 times over the past 3/4 years.:p
In any case it hasn't have to be a rememberance day only to carry a symbol on their shirts to honor their dead though. How about the other examples and say Iraq/Palestine(or other mid east countries)/Iran doing it just generally too? As i said whether the public has a problem or not some state administration will sure do.

And they aren't. They are just adminstering a football match that is played under their organisation and mandate.

In any case a compromise has been allowed so is bit of a moot point, but as i said and article also said i can understand their objection, even though it may be sad.

Ok, now you're just at it. How on earth can you not understand that comparison?

  10. Verigoat S Verigotta

Well yes it does have to be next to a rememberence day

Because thats what we're arguing over, the allowance to change a shirt to remember the war dead on a game day which is only 1 day difference from our actual rememberece day

If England were trying to change their kit permanantly then you'd have some tiny leg to stand on with that argument

  11. Cevno IV Narang

Sigh!! Because i never said anyone was "insulted" or not by rememberance day per say(don't really want to get into that debate either). It's about the precedent carrying a symbol on a football jersey in a FIFA match would say.

Getting tired of repeating the same point again and again. And the only argument seems to be why should we be bothered about others? Which is fair enough, but it is FIFA's job to be bothered about others not the English Government or FA's.

Had enough of this already, as obviously with Patriotic passions raised it is pointless and impossible to have a rational debate about a larger World context.

None of us English give a shit whether or not other countries use a symbol on their respective 'Remembrance Days'. They're welcome to AFAIC. We're not arguing otherwise.

I keep seeing a lot of people saying England dont look anywhere near as good as Spain

I dont know if they're watching the game or just making tweets about what they expected to happen at random time intervals, then the commentators, Resistance for 90 minutes, England need to make a chance, while thats true im pretty certain Spain havnt had a shot either

  16. Eds E Ames

    The commentators are embarrassingly bad.

  17. Furball G Furball

Because they don't. Scott Parker looks like a pub player.

Bet Busquets looks world class doesn't he

  19. Furball G Furball

He hasn't been up to his usual high standard, but he's redundant in this game anyway as England don't have an attacking player to bother him.
