Group H will provide some great matches. Chelsea shouldn't have any problems making it through the group stage.
Hopefully Group H will provide a new record for worst Champions League record. Absolute pisser of a group for Arsenal. Group B was a bit of a let down after Real Madrid and Juventus were the first 2 out of the hat.
Group H is overrated. Ajax and Celtic will be poo this season. F is easily the most interesting. Also looking forward to Juve v Real far too much.
Does something have to be done about the seedings if Borussia Dortmund, last seasons runners up are in the 3rd lot?
I think so, yeah. At the minute the last five years are all weighted equally, more recent years should be given slightly greater weightings. The United and Arsenal groups are the interesting ones.
Dortmund are in pot 3 because their last 5 years in Europe are: Did Not Qualify Did Not Qualify Did Not Qualify 4th in CL group Runners up Had they won they'd have been in pot 1. It could maybe be weighted to more recent years but Dortmund are in pot 3 because they've done almost nothing over the last 5 years. For me the big issue in terms of seeding is that wins in the Champions League get the same number of points as Europa League wins.
Yeah that is also a joke. What's Atletico Madrid's recent CL record? I don't recall them being in it at all but they've won the Europa League twice and been placed in pot 2.
They were in Chelsea's group in season 2009/10. I remember watching Aguero scoring twice against them in a bar somewhere in Luton en route to watching Rangers draw in Romania. There's bonus co-efficient points for qualifying for the Champions League and for the last 16, but I think they should look at a system where it's 3 points for a CL win, 2 for a Europa win and 1 for a draw.
I don't think H will be overrated in terms of how exciting it is I reckon every away game at Celtic will be gr8
For once I'd like teams to go to Parkhead and actually try. Sick of Celtic fluking results every fucking year.
Haha, poor old FCK. They've been pretty rubbish this season, too. Hope to catch a match or two at Parken.
Celtic don't need to put forth any effort at all in the league and it's a decently sized trip for most teams to get to Scotland so until Rangers return to make the league relevant, Celtic will do better than they should in Europe.
Group A Manchester United Shaktar Donetsk Group B Real Madrid Juventus Group C Benfica Paris St Germain Group D Bayern Munich Manchester City Group E Chelsea FC Basel Group F Arsenal Borussia Dortmund Group G FC Porto Zenit St Petersburg Group H Barcelona AC Milan Pretty sure I've gone with the obvious picks in almost every group barring Basel over Schalke. CSKA over City is the one I'd go closest to changing.
Stupid from Brown. Yeah, Neymar made the most of it, but he gave the ref a decision to make which he really didnt need to do. Silly sly kick.
