He means he thought they deserved a point based on the way they played and the chances they created, not that they actually got one.
Lol they wouldn't have been able to keep good possession on a GOOD pitch. I'm just saying, the ball was lost more so than usual for a match involving in A-League team.
With Nagoya playing 5 at the back and counter-attacking, it was always going to be difficult for either side to keep the ball as soon as they crossed halfway. Nagoya pressured the likes of Hoffman and Mooy extremely well, plenty of credit should be given to their two wing-backs there. Coming back the other way, until they scored Costanzo and T-S looked reasonably comfortable with what was thrown at them, whilst Adam G and Kantarovski both sat pretty deep as well. So when the Jets had 4 players deep in the middle of the park Nagoya struggled to get on top and bring their wing-backs forward to help keep the ball up there.
Yeah, A-League jabs aside, Jets played well given the circumstances. I'm not a fan of Dragan Stojkovic's tactics (I watched tapes of him as a player as well, he was famous in Yugoslavia). I don't really think 5 at the back was really necessary given that the Jets had two at the front, who aren't really players that will set the world on fire. Kaz Patafta needed more game time IMO. He looked dangerous and worked pretty hard off the ball. I hope he 'makes it' at Newcastle. Why doesn't he start? Or at least start more often?
I didn't mind the 5 at the back, it was a bit negative but it was away from home and a draw against us would've been a top result. It nullified our wide players (Thompson and Elrich) perfectly. He was probably expecting to see Jesic, Vignaroli, De Groot and Petrovski as well, rather than De Groot, Mooy, Hoffman and Vignaroli. Kaz is probably going to be cut when his contract ends. He just doesn't cut it as an A-League player it would seem. He's got all the skills, but with such a short season you can't afford to give him the extended run he needs to get used to another style of play. Definitely not.
That's a real shame IMO. I've come to respect the kid. He's got bags of talent but doesn't get half a chance to prove himself. Lol. Why?
He should head overseas really. Newcastle probably played the style he was most suited to, but at the moment he's just not able to get a run. If I was him I'd be in Asia somewhere. Quite frankly, they're embarrassing. Half the group are 16 year-olds and their girlfriends who sit there to look cool. The other half are coin or can throwing tossers who'd prefer to get pissed and get kicked out at half-time than actually watch the game. There's a small minority in there who genuinely do it to support the team, but it's a very small group.
Asia would be best, yeah. Most Japanese teams (other than Nagoya obv >_>) play a fast, free-flowing football. He'd be decent over there IMO. Or at least, not as much of a waste. Lol, I had no idea. I was never really a Sydney fan, so I never considered signing up for The Cove, but my friend (who is a member of it) said it's pure shit. Basically just sit there and watch the game. The chants are sporadic and usually really shit. Worst supporters he says, lol. His words not mine, but I was afraid The Squadron would be something similar. >_> Hell, at least the names are original.
Depends on the condition of the pitch and the side we pick. I'm optimistic though, given they're understrength.
Petrovski was ****ing sleeping in offside. But good game - best ACL game I've seen yet this season. Congrats Newcastle... draw is only needed to qualify now.
Who ****in cares!!! I agree, the tempo of the game was quite quick and there was some quality football. Luckily they only defended for 85 minutes.
