And not former coaches like Hook who put you to sleep while talking, or Toovey who tries to be funny.

Have only just started folllowing NRL so am a N00b compared to you experts in this thread nonetheless here is my take on all 16 teams in order of where they finished last year- the following are regular season predictions.

Storm - Will drop put of the top four as last year everything clicked for them and their luck will run out. I also have hopes the captains challenge will negate Cam Smiths hypnotic control over the refs - prediction 5th
Roosters - Why did they give up Latrell. Hubris and over confidence in their abilities. Prediction - Will finish first anyway,
Rabbitohs - No Sam Burgess and no equivalent replacement. Prediction - Will slip to sixth
Raiders - through being a settled team will finish second
Eels - over rated team and over performed last year. Prediction 8th-10th
Sea Eagles - this team revolves all around Fonua-Blake and Taupau. Marty is 30 now. They do have Sipley but they will fall out of the eight - prediction 10-12th
Sharks - A team of egos last year. I don't rate their coach for being able to get them to put the team as number one and egos second. Some stories about the halves not being given the ball to spite them on the 6th tackle in the attacking red zone.Prediction 8-10th
Broncos - Prediction 3rd or maybe 2nd. Payne Haas is next level and this year he will own the league. They also have David Fifita. Some questions over their halves but there needn't be as they just need to be ok to get Brisbane across the line.
West Tigers- Maguire will be coach of the year in 2020 and the Tigers will be the final top 4 spot team.
Panthers - Could do anything. Anywhere from the spoon to 6th. They are a bunch of lip dropping flakes when they are losing and an unstoppable juggernaut when winning. A foolish team that has been listless and directionless under super star coach Cleary.
Knights - will go top 8 this year. They are a good team that just needs a bucket of self belief. Prediction 7th
Bulldogs - 15th. Unless Lachlan Lewis starts to resemble Wally Lewis.
Warriors - Will be better than last year. We have better fringe players. We are bigging up Katoa and even Josh Curran to surprise. 10th to 12th but no top 8 due to lack of size at prop.
Cowboys - over rated team. Don't see Val Holmes adding much value. Could be wrong but I doubt it. Prediction - 14th
Dragons - 14th despite Josh Kerr having a breakthrough season.
Titans - last again. Just because.

Sea Eagles will make the 8 easily. I can see us doing well and the Eels and Raiders regressing.

Eels will Improve, not regress. Easy draw.

tigers won’t be near top 4. Douehi is a horrendous player and Leilua can’t carry them that much.

Eels had a lot of players have career best seasons. They're a fairly young team sure but I can see things going south real quick with the characters they've got in that team.

Also I think we'll come 6th or 7th. We'll have one of the best packs in the comp imo. Hoping we can land Grant somehow though, he'd make a huge difference.

I think Wests undoubtedly have a bottom 3rd forward pack.

They were right up there in terms of points they allowed in
And this off season they have added one or two more offensive threats

They came about 9th or tenth last year so they don’t need to improve by all that much as the margins between winning and losing are slim.

My main reason for tipping them as a bolter is the coach

I think Madge is the new super star coach

  8. Alex AJ O'Driscoll

Yeah that would’ve flown six or seven years ago but Madge has been found out, I don’t think he has much tactical nous, Souths in the back end of 2015 through to 2017 were an absolute basket case despite still having a pretty good roster.

  9. Boobidy BJ Gemmell

Wests forward pack is fucking horrible.

    *Nuance :hughesy:

But yeah in regards to the Eels they overperformed last year, but have only gained in quality over the offseason so they should finish at least around the same position as they did last season. Especially as no other teams around them have killed it in the signing department to leapfrog them.

  12. Alex AJ O'Driscoll

    Lol wut?

  13. AVA T Delonge

I assumed you were trying to say nuance instead of nous. Turns out I'm the :hughesy:

Ok thanks for that Alex. Like I said I am a N00b so some of my comments will stand to be corrected.
That said, I will be tracking the Tigers with interest.

I said it last year, there has been such little movement in the transfer market that its hard to see the competition going that much differently this year. Teams may slide up and down a few spots but I just can't seeing it being that different.

I think Canberra over performed to an extent and will probably drop some places this year.

Manly if they can get a better run with injuries should climb the ladder (in saying that sounds like they've already got a few short-medium term injuries)

Hard to make a call on Souths, for any other coach I would say losing Sam Burgess & moving Cam Murray to an edge would be an absolute disaster but Bennett obviously has a track record with getting middles to over-perform for him. I still expect them to drop and have a real indifferent time of it with Latrell at fullback.

I think the Roosters & Storm both have issues in the halves, Roosters slightly better off because Keary is a much better first receiver than Munster and may end up playing there + Radley. But Jarome Hughes & Kyle Flanagan as starting halfbacks for the top 2 clubs of last year is a concern.

Eels will be the biggest improvers for mine, good spine, decent outside backs and a really good forward pack with some genuine quality off the bench and in depth. They're just such a volatile footy club, they could just as easily shit the bed and miss 30 tackles a game week in week out. A big part of it is I think at 25yrs of age Moses started to show some really good signs last year that he's turning it a real high quality club level halfback.

  16. Julian BJ Taylor

Agree with a lot of that. Manly have one of the best full strength sides imo. The hooker going to gaol could fuck them though and they have no depth at all. That pack plus DCE and Tom Trbo is the goods though innit.

  17. Paddy P Orr

Cows need to work on retaining Reuben Cotter, Francis Molo and the winger Fidow as he has the pace our backs have been seriously lacking for years.

I'm still stunned that Maloney and Sezer couldn't get a gig in the NRL.

  19. morgieb MC Burridge

I mean Maloney could, he just wanted to play in England. Bit different to Sezer.

  20. Hurricane JD Hurricane

Yet the storm danced into the minor prems a number of points clear of everyone else despite having the same half problems last year.
In my opnion Teams over invest in the spine.
3 out of 4 good spine players plus some low budget but decent guy is the way to go. Pick your poison obviously with deciding where to compromise.
