lol some cunt put 25 cents on Elgey to win the Dally M. wtf?

Glad to see Cotric win rookie of the year. He's a gun.

  2. Magic AJ Parker

Can we talk about Matt Gillett getting 2nd rower of the year.

6th most missed tackles in the comp.

6th most errors by a forward in the comp.

    Averages 89m a game.

Makes a linebreak once in every 5 games.

I gave him a huge wrap last year cause I never rated the cunt and he really did surprise me last year but he went back to being donkey balls this year.

    Paul Gallen over Taumalolo
    Aaron woods over Vaughan

    Every year.

Yeah that's a fucking piss take. Woods is a marshmallow and even Gallen's mum would pick Taumalolo over him ffs.

  5. AVA T Delonge

Taumalolo lost 6 points for his suspension. Only reason he lost.

  6. Maroon_Faithful M Faithful

True but it's still a travesty. Losing three points for every week of suspension is bullshit.

just the nazi nrl trying to punish players to satisfy the horde of whining mothers trying to ruin our game

I think Gallen was close enough to Taumololo this season for this to make sense. 6 points is a fucking big deal.

I strongly disagree with the suspension rule, but at least that's an easy fix for this problem - the judges being retarded would've been a harder problem to tackle.

Maybe I didn't pay enough attention, but Morgan best HB for the entire year? He's been playing out of his skin for sure, but was he the best overall for the year?

  10. Cribbage RG Cribb

He's only played halfback for about two thirds of the season, and for the first few weeks he really wasn't that great at it at all. He's the in-form halfback right now, and he was really good for a while (after the first few weeks) even when they were losing.. but that's not really the question being asked.

I'm happy for him to have got it just because of the circumstances but he wouldn't have been my pick.

Flaw in the system. He's finished second in the Dally M's and is playing halfback, thus he has to be halfback of the year.

  12. Cribbage RG Cribb

I'm really surprised that he managed that, tbh.

Did they change the way the score them now? I remember in 14 or 15 Ben Hunt was higher in the points but HB of the year was given to DCE....

  14. AVA T Delonge

Yeah, this was the first year team of the year was generated from the dally m rankings.

A lot of his misses are when he rushes out of the line for a big shot or applying pressure. The amount of tackles he makes that saves a try from the hopelessness of Roberts is very high.

That's what people used to say (Nadyone specifically) about Watmough. That sort of play has its positives from time to time but he does it way too much and misses way too often. To the point where it's detrimental to the defensive line. I like it on a short side where he can jam a half or fullback but in long shifts it's suicidal. I also don't mind him doing it inside the opp. 30 but doing it in the midfield is low percentage shit.

Aside from that he's a paradox. Yeah he makes a lot of great try savers but fuck he makes some pedestrian misses as well.

Yeah, Gillett does miss a few tackles, but nowhere near as badly as the stats suggest. He mainly rushes out to stop momentum and trying to put on a big hit, then the rest finish the tackle off, seems to be some sort of tactic. When it comes to defending the try line though, he's almost unstoppable sometimes, makes so many try saving tackles.

His attack is fucking ordinary though, and he often just gets in the way. Can't seem to run a good line.

The biggest jokes are clearly Woods and Walker IMO. I dunno how Woods keeps managing to trick so many into thinking he's one of the best props.

  18. Cribbage RG Cribb

It was bullshit about Watmough - the cunt just couldn't make side-on tackles. He was much better when moved to lock.

I think it's actually kind of true about Gillett though. When he knows he has to make a one-on-one tackle he usually does make it.

Still definitely not the best second rower this season, but his defensive stats are a little misleading.

I'll grant that some of them are better classified as ineffective tackles rather than out and out misses, but ineffective attempts are often just as bad/costly. Especially when he's doing it repeatedly as it drains more juice from the blokes who actually complete the tackle.
