Season is 4 days away, so I thought it was a good time to start this.

    Mine:

    1. Brisbane
    2. North Queensland
    3. Melbourne
    4. Warriors
    5. Canberra
    6. Manly
    7. Cronulla
    8. Souths

    9. Canterbury
    10. Sydney Roosters
    11. Parramatta
    12. St George Illawarra
    13. Penrith
    14. Newcastle
    15. Wests Tigers
    16. Gold Coast

Can see the middle of the ladder being very tight. Unlike some years though the best and the worst clubs look kinda obvious from my eyes.

Being a former Raiders supporter who will always have a soft spot for them, I'd like to see the green machine back up there again but really, their side isn't all that much better than last year. Certainly not enough to warrant a top 4 finish. The draw is favourable of course but they're a poorly drilled side. Stuart is one of the worst coaches in the league. So I won't be surprised if, as was the case last year, they're gun with the football and absolutely abysmal without it.

Sezer adds a fuckload by himself, plus the pom will have another NRL off season in him and will improve too. I don't know how you think they aren't stronger than last year.

  5. Alec AD Funkotron

Shillington got back into some good form last year, led the pack well. Not sure if they replaced him with anybody.

  6. BMT BMT Con

Played like balls towards the end. We are light up front though.

You may have misread. I didn't say they're not stronger; they are. Just not enough to warrant leapfrogging into the top four. If there's some early indication that they're dramatically improved the defensive line then yeah maybe but they won't be anywhere near the Broncos, Storm etc. if they concede as many points as they score like in 2015. Sezer isn't going to prevent that.

I didn't think you could know less about league than cricket but I was wrong.

  11. Fiery GR Smith

Well we all know I know a shitload more about cricket than you.

As for these predictions, I actually had a look at some Australian tab odds and my predictions are pretty much in line with those. So if I don't know anything, then neither do they.

What do you disagree with? Let me guess...Warriors too high and Raiders too low...

Don't wanna ruin this thread, but I doubt many on cricsim would agree with the bolded.

The ones you'll be way off on are Rabbits, Raiders, Roosters, Eels and Sharks, IMO.

We'll see won't we? If I'm way off then so are most of the betting agencies. Some of those picks you pointed out that are "way off" are only 2 or 3 spots different to your own picks anyway, so you're just arguing for the sake of it...as usual.

(And I would simply annihilate both you and Julian in any cricket quiz, just quietly)

Those ones that are 2 or 3 off are ones that drop out of the 8? Yeah, that doesn't mean much in the NRL...

  15. Fiery GR Smith

Let's count how many of our picks make the top 8 at the other end of the season then. Those are my predictions and I'm happy with them.

  16. Boobidy BJ Gemmell

I'm sure it will be brought up at seasons end.

  17. Fiery GR Smith

Yeah I'll have to remember to point and laugh at you if you end up with less.

  18. Boobidy BJ Gemmell

You'll need the Roosters and the Rabbitohs to miss the 8 for that. Good luck.

  19. Fiery GR Smith

Yeah here's hoping. I've got them at 9th and 10th so I'm hardly writing them off.

You seem pretty sure you'll get at least 7 of your top 8 right. Good luck with that too.

(I can't see Souths making the 8....Isaac Luke gone to a better club you see.)

They've lost Luke but picked up Damian Cook who is quality. Sam Burgess returns too. They have depth in most areas but also still have their weaknesses (defense out wide for example). I think they're a definite top 8 side.
