I thiught his high tackle bounced of the ball and was a little unfortunate, the second dig was definitely out there though. 1 week is generous.
You can argue it wasn't dangerous and I'd absolutely agree with you. How can anyone argue that shouldn't be penalised for late? Preposterous beyond words.
Please it was a bit of a cuddle. IT'S late and unnecessary but it's a soft penalty, especially in Origin. There's grubby shit ten times worse than that which gets ignored every series and we want to pull up the game for that? Spare me.
If that's not a penalty for a late tackle then you cannot possibly ever have one. Spare you? I'm arguing about a tackle that started in the first half and ended around the time they were holding up the shield.
It was late, he went on with it for about 5 minutes after he kicked it, it wasn't dangerous, Smith milked it It was definite penalty, suspension probably a bit overboard.
Late and needlessly going on with it are two seperate things, he certainly wasn't late. First contact was almost simultaneous with the kick. I'll agree to disagree, I think as far as incidents which are let go in Origin for needless contact goes that was on the far, far softer side.
Can't be softer than the Blues over the past decade though, lol. He's over the horizontal. It's a spear tackle/dangerous throw/whatever you want to call it. It doesn't end badly at all and Smith milks it but it's stupid as fuck play and a penalty every day of the week.
Lol you already said it was late? First contact is irrelevant. This wasn't like when a bloke starts a tackle and doesn't realise the ball has been offloaded. Scott had to have known the ball was gone and still decided to dump him. Late. Penalty. End of story.
I've thrown a feather with more force than that. Every face rub, grapple tackle, elbow rub to the head on the ground etc etc etc is technically a penalty but it's Origin ffs. That wasn't a dangerous throw. Harden up.
