And Matulino is a gun though. Very good player when he wants to be,

The Warriors being a one country team should never finish outside the top 8, second only to Brisbane they have the greatest advantages in the league.

It's just quite frankly a very poorly run club that needs more than a great coach, there's clearly a lot missing at the Admin level.

There is really good young polynesian talent at the club now tbh. Lolohea, Kata, Faitala-Mariner for example are all only about 20 and destined for big things. We just need our big names to stay on the park. Of which we will have a few more next season.

So I am expecting a big improvement next season. But I do think we need a new coach and captain.

  4. Fiery GR Smith

Oh yeah because it's a real advantage having to travel to Australia every 2nd week

    AWTA

  6. Magic AJ Parker

Countered somewhat by the fact that an Australian team has to travel to NZ every other week.

And it's about the only thing they don't have going for them...

  7. Fiery GR Smith

...yeah apart from it being a rugby union obsessed country of course...

  8. Julian BJ Taylor

    one team

Yeah well it'd be like NZ and RSA having 8 Super Rugby sides each and us having 1, that rarely makes the semis and using rugby league as an excuse.

  11. Fiery GR Smith

No it would be nothing like that tbh

  12. Julian BJ Taylor

Ah ok. It'd be like that but us using NRL and AFL as an excuse.

  13. Magic AJ Parker

NZ produces more players than QLD, lets not pretend like there's a player pool shortage because the country is favourable to Rugby Union.

  14. Fiery GR Smith

    Nope

  15. Fiery GR Smith

Where are you getting these numbers from? That surprises me.

  16. Fiery GR Smith

Player numbers don't necessarily equate to ability anyway. England have 2 million registered players compared to NZ's 150,000 odd...yet are much shitter at the game.

I don't have them on me but it's not even close from the last numbers I saw. NSW was only slighlty in front of NZ, booth are a long way in front of QLD. This isn't hardly earth shattering news, at least I didn't think it was.

Cribb might be able to tell us a rough number, he did a junior player project a few years back.

I might be wrong (well clearly am about how far the gap is between NZ & QLD) but was discussing it with my boss a month back who brought up some stats on it.

Although may have measured place of birth/nationality rather than junior club.

    These must be clubs.

You just tried to tell me NZ produces more players than QLD...and then you show me some stats showing Queensland has twice as many clubs.

    Dear oh dear.
