Thing is that you can easily get a SF on a very similar production level to Barnes in the free agency for your mid level exception (roughly 5 mil) you wont get near a PF for that price who is as good as Thad Young. It's pretty much win win for you, Thad also has the speed to chase round teams who run a SF at PF which David Lee doesn't which could offer alot of versatility.
