Fair enough, there it is in black and white.

It does raise an issue of consistency then. Where heads and necks are contacted, yet nothing happens.

I really can't put my finger on why they're so clunky. Either lack of fitness or they dont look like they give a shit. Those little effort areas are where they're most complacent. No desperation when there's broken play ie spilt possession, no desperation on the goal line in defence. Horrendous decisions defensively like not sliding across when they should be to prevent overlaps. The basic concept of getting the ball up the other end of the field is even a lot to ask apparently especially after they scored.

Lol playing Granville at prop. That says it all really.

The ‘head high’ penalty to give the Panthers a kick for 14-8 and then the ‘hair pull’ penalty in the lead up to the try that saw them level 14-14 are two of the softest penalties you’ll see all season. To happen back to back when you’re a club like Newcastle leading the reigning premiers is just cruel.

That Tino sin bin was a joke too.

Refs just too happy to blow the whistle and send blokes to the bin this year. I appreciate our game was at a point a few years ago where we never used the bin and it could’ve maybe should’ve been utilised more but think we have overshot the mark and then some at the moment.

It's worth the NRL looking at 5min bins, due to how many they are handing out for innocuous stuff.

There was a bunch of shit calls going the other way too.
Just a horrible reffing performance really.

    Tinos bin was pathetic

This whole hip-drop shit is retarded too. Most occur as a by-product of natural movement when players are in motion, and I don't think they should be penalised. Like Butcher and Loiero's on the weekend. Nat is dragged behind Nikora via momentum, and Loiero doesn't even touch the legs...

The hip-drop they do need to crack down on is ones on stationary players. Like the one Carrigan did on Hastings late last year, that and the 3rd/4th man in at the legs when a player is held.

Was hilarious that the ref gave those softcock penalties to Panthers, yet did nothing when Fitzgibbon did that lazy coathanger on Cleary.

Todd Payten is a fraud. He's basically just a bald Seibold. Seibald if you will.

Souffs and Panthers have laid down the gauntlet for what the benchmark for defence is this season.

    Booo souffs

    Fuck, what a game!

  16. Magic AJ Parker

Ashley Klein had 3 options there on that Cobbo run

    A) Penalty to Broncos for 2nd effort in the tackle
    B) Penalty to Broncos for Ruck interference
    C) Penalty to Broncos for offside player

Yet somehow he’s gone D) Knock-on from Cobbo

    Only Klein…

Banked the Broncs some great karma for those bounces though.

Well that Hopgood ‘hip drop’ is now the most bizarre sin bin I’ve seen to date this season and that’s saying something.

Just grab your leg and the bunker will send someone off.

  19. Magic AJ Parker

So Payne Haas is not a hip drop... but Hopgood is.

Need to stop sin binning hip drops when it's clear they're still figuring it out.

Mamm's was textbook hipdrop, where his feet leave the ground and puts his weight on the ball carriers' legs. Haas only ends up like that because RCG gets low and they both lose balance.
Intention really needs to come into calculation when it comes to hip-drops, cause you can just end up there while making a normal tackle. But if you're intentionally going zero-g and dropping your weight on the legs, you should be pinged.

Hopgood's was just a standard tackle, and shouldn't have been binned.
