Allen's a good player but the main reason Gerrard has been so good this season is his long-range passing. A centre midfield pairing of Henderson, Allen & Lucas just doesn't have a get out - opposition defenses just won't be stretched because there's no-one capable of playing that 60-yard ball, so we'll just get pressed harder. I don't think Allen's ever going to be able to be anything other than an excellent crab, tbh.

Still think Coates has potential and Skrtel has been unfairly treated by Rodgers' man management. Big game for Skrtel today though - could decide his future. And yeah, I think replacing Gerrard will be extremely hard but we can't just pretend there aren't better options than Joe Allen and Conor Coady, really.

He and Agger would be exceptional. Would be awesome value for money too. Then if we can replace Reina with a top quality keeper, we'd be set IMO. Need a long-term replacement for Gerrard too.

Just read that it might be Carter v O'Sullivan in the second round so would probably steer clear. I actually fancy Higgins more than Trump so definite value IMO.
