Haha. As I said, I was going to give the lock an optional role so you could play several different types of tactical games depending on what happened when the lock got the ball, but the man-playing-the-ball problem got that idea scrapped.

If your left half is playing the ball (for example), your lock will become first receiver on the left hand side. If your right front rower is playing the ball, your right second rower moves into the front row and your lock becomes your right second rower.

Rogers doesn't have the defence for it. He'd be absolutely perfect in attack though. Just don't put someone like Taufua there and you'll be right. Imagine Taufua at halfback... *shudders*

I think that works well for the time being Prince.

Most NRL teams have a lock who can fill that role. Maybe besides Melbourne....

If the halfback or 5/8 is tackled on the 5th, will the chances of the lock kicking increase dramatically or will 90% of the time the other half or hooker kick.

Yeah, that's comes under catching. There's a separate attribute for actual air contests though - fullbacks don't normally have to compete for the ball as such, just catch it. Wingers have to get there first over the top of other wingers, then catch it.

Vatuvei for example will win most of his air-challenges but then drop the ball when he gets to it.

    I'll get to that. :p

I'm typing up a summary of how the players move around, then I'll explain who kicks when.

Will experience come into it? Will say someone like Lockyer handle golden point of a GF better than someone like Soward.

Does that mean kicking from dummyhalf or first reciever etc or both?

  12. Cribbage RG Cribb

That'd just be temperament. It doesn't exist yet but it will eventually.

  13. Cribbage RG Cribb

    Kicking from dummy half, yeah.

    FUUUUUUUUUUUU

Does that mean Idris will get higher then most but miss the ball completely?

I reckon you should look into using the fullback a bit in this role. I'd much rather have my fullback filling in the halves and possibly the centres while the lock covers the second row and hooker. There's definitely more fullbacks capable of playing in the halves/centres then there are locks IMO.

Yeah, I thought of that.. but the fullback has an actual role in the attack as it is anyway. If the fullback went to halfback, he'd have the pass the ball to himself in the backline movement.

Would the props also be used as dummy runners?

  18. Speirz DG Speirs

Because Taufua was originally a lock. He's defense around the ruck was incredibly effective due to his union background.

    Fair enough.

Yeah, indeed. Every time one of the halves gets the ball (unless he's giving it to a prop on the inside), the pass goes behind a charging prop. There's one there every single play.

Yeah, I meant after reading the role of a lock in this sim. But fair enough.
