WIFOM (Mafia)

    Just reading on SW mafia and honestly reckon the whole

    'This point is invalid as it's WIFOM' crap has the potential to ruin forum mafia games. Reckon WIFOM logic should be banned.

    Pretty much any character read/any sort of scum tell can be refuted/defended/asserted with WIFOM - when really people do exhibit consistent character traits that can and have been proven to be consistent and the reading of these has been worked into the town's favour.

    tl;dr wifom could destroy a lot of the fun in these games imo so get rid of it, honestly.

    it's ridiculous though

    any discussion during day phases aside from cop/tracker claims etc. etc. can just be refuted by wifom

    it'll just end up

    5 posts during day phase

    'cop to out'
    'agreed'
    'person x seems scummy to me, he's my FoS'
    'nah, wifom'
    'i'm cop, outing - person y is guilty'
    'any cc's'
    'nah'
    'lynch person y'

    and it'll be boring as fuck.

    You can't ban someone from thinking a certain way, or ban someone from correctly pointing out when someone else is double bluffing. It'd be ridiculous, and make the games even worse. They'd just be full of wifom that wasn't pointed out.

    But do you not see that now that WIFOM's been introduced it has the potential to 'ruin' (to a degree games)? (evidenced by the above surmising/foreshadowing)

    Then people would just use WIFOM logic constantly and sit in the corner with a troll face on knowing they couldn't be called on it.

    That wasn't even an actual example of wifom though; that was just someone randomly swatting off any fos as wifom. The key is knowing what it actually is.

    until 12 hours ago when you began to reference it, nobody had done anything like that (call wifom, acknowledge wifom, anything) - now it'll catch on though.

    I'm actually going to close this thread until the SW mafia ends, because I want to quote some examples from there and I also want to make a point about Skippos that I'm really not allowed to do as I'm still playing and this isn't part of the game. I'll re-open it when it's over.
