As title says, who is the better player? I'm talking overall as well, not just at origin level, club level or NSW cup level. Just who is the one you'd pick in your side if you could only take one.

  2. Old Mate M Perry

    Maloney.

  3. Jazz NC Smith

It's pretty close imo but I'd take Maloney. Didn't rate Maloney for a long time but his play this year has gone a long way to making me a fan.

  4. Wilson SB Wilson

    Definitely Maloney.

Get a poll up Emm you idiot.

People also need to do their best to remove their Pearce hate from the equation (hard I know).

    Would take Maloney.

  7. Old Mate M Perry

    Pearce, lol.

Pearce is good at nothing in particular. His game has no real strength.

  9. Jazz NC Smith

Pearce has quite a good kicking game at club level and he has become quite adept at picking up second-rowers close to the line. His combination with Aubusson is impressive and he also puts other players through holes too. His issue is that none of that has translated to Origin but in the NRL he is still quite good.

If his name was Mitchell Smith, he would have 0 origins to his name.

Reckon the (alanas) Morris set would've played rep footy?

Nah, that period from 2010-2012 saw a real dearth of halves for NSW. Campese was injured, Carney was being Carney, Kimmorley was past it, Mullen was being predictably erratic ... He certainly shouldn't have got as many games as he did but over the last few years it is quite reasonable that he managed at least a game or two.

I think Brett definitely would have, Josh maybe not, but most likely.
Sure, he might have got one game. But woulda(Shoulda) been dropped straight away.

Kimmorley at that stage still would have been a better option than Pearce.

Kimmorley's game went to pieces in 2010. Game 1 of 2010 showed as much. If he had managed to maintain the level of play he had shown in the previous year then it would have been ok but I don't think dropping him in 2010 was really all that bad. He wasn't better than Pearce at that stage and even if they had been of an equivalent level, it makes more sense to go with the younger half rather than a 34 year old.

I'd take Kimmorley over Pearce in 2013.

Id take anything over pearce any year at origin level.

Is that thanks to him though or thanks to their structures and the way those 2nd rowers run their lines? It's pretty easy to throw a short or flat ball, Mortimer did it with ease as well.

Pearce can hit his second rowers but he's got no class to it. He can't sell it as well as someone like Cronk or Thurston. Cronk's pass to Thaiday for the first try tonight is a good example.

  20. Julian BJ Taylor

    Pearce.

    Maloney is fucking useless

    They're both useless.
