What to do?

?

What do we do with Seasonal Rugby now?

  1. Carry on everything as normal, just with the new sim.

  2. Finish off Season 2, all games non-live, with the old sim, and start Season 3 with the new sim.

  3. Complete re-start. Scrap everything, and just start completely again.

  4. Start Season 2 again. Use exactly the same squads.

The new sim is guarenteed and good times are coming for Seasonal Rugby. We have a fair few options of what to do with the new sim. Obviously, you guys will have to re-register. In the re-registrations, I do not want to see forwards trying to become backs and vice-versa, although you can move around inside these categories.

The new sim will mean Individual Player Stats, and proper SimFests. It will also have much much more detail and will not be as random as the current sim.

An idea that has been offered to me, is complete re-start. It is fairly tempting, but I'm not up for doing something so controversial without a poll. A good reason for this would be to just stick all the current stuff in one sub-forum, and forget about it. Call this Seasonal Rugby v2 (or v3 if you include the old CricSim :p (or possibly v4 ninjai)), and let's get on with it. This is very tempting to me personally, but would mean alot of work for the admins :p.

Another idea is just carry on Season 2. I do not like this as I feel the money side, and energy levels has been a complete failure. What is the point in having Energy Levels payed by salaries if the salaries aren't updated every week? It was just too much effort to do. I say we completely scrap Season 2, personally, but if you want to carry on Season 2, vote for it.

We could keep the same squads, stop all this energy levels and salary shite, and just start Season 2 again, assuming all contracts have been signed. Obviously the major downfall of this is that player's will change their rego's and certain clubs won't get any props, or something like that.

Another option is to start Season 2 completely again. Keep the same teams, but re-start squads, and clubs can recruit accordingly. This would mean virtually no changes to the squads, which can be both an advantage and a disadvantage.

Another option is to just finish S2, with all non-live games, forgetting Provincial Games, tour games etc. Also cut the fourth round. Once the round robin and the final is done, move on to Season 3.

I'll add a poll once there is some discussion going.

    **** salaries and fitness.
Just blitz the end of S2. I don't care about live games. I just want some ****ing closer and continuity in a season of SR.
Look at every other sim, changes are brought in at the end of the season / in the break.
Just get the rest of S2 done.
Cut the provincial games. Gut the 4th round.
Just get 9 more league games plus the final done, then change IMHO.

    Complete re-start IMO

Guys, if you can think of any options, make sure you post it.

What Marcuss said. Complete restart -after- the season ends (even if it means you cut it short in a fair way).

And you said you'd sim the round 5 game "tomorrow" if you could confirm that the new sim was happening.

I'd like to see season 2 get finished personally.

Even if we cut three rounds at least we can see a season come to an end.

If your gonna cut the season then do either some provincials or SRXV matches to send off the old sim like RL are doing with origin

    Then a restard

TBH something says completley restart - new clubs, owners, everything. I'm happy to continue with current squads an stuff but I really am not bothered. I think perhaps bringing new teams and everything will get SR a whole new buzz around the place and stuff.

Actually yeah, the more I think, let's do a complete restart. Just sim the rest of this season non live in the next week and let's restart everything. Will get more people interested and everything, and offer people the option of just taking through their current rego to keep people here. New teams again, new owners, will make everything so much more interesting especially if you can do regular simmage.

Eds, is there a web page where we can see some of this guy's other work?

Wouldn't mind this. Keeping the Spartans obv. \_/ what everyone else does. :p

    I personally agree with CCG.

Smelly, I'll speak to him next when I can.

I don't want to see the Vikings die yet :(

Whoh. Whoh. Whoh. I'm not restarting my sim on whim.

    Either way, complete the season.

Actually, I quite liked the idea of energy levels. It certainly made selection more intreguing that players couldn't play week-in-week-out.

If you don't have energy levels, then a fifth team or a reserves tournament is also required.

  16. Eds E Ames

    A fifth team. Hmmmm....

  17. Baxter MJ Deane

Haha, Spartans and Vikings. \_/ for the rest.
2 new teams and we can rival each other as "originals" then rivial the other 2 teams in old v new.

Could have that as a pre-season taster. Spartans&Viking vs the new shit ****s.

  18. CCG C Golding

Nah scrap everything I reckon. This could lead to joint bids and stuff which would get more people interested and involved with running the clubs in SR.

  19. Eds E Ames

And Marcuss has a boner. ;)

  20. Baxter MJ Deane

Yeah, agreed as it was my idea :p
It needed more commitment to work effectively though.

Reggies > 5th team considering how many "poor" players there are already.
