What are Melbourne lacking?

    It's no secret the club is a mess at the moment. David Schwarz said that if it wasn't for Viney the club and fans would have no hope whatsoever.

    Personally, leadership is key. The only player i can think of that should be captain of that club would be Nathan Jones. Going with two very young captains is a very risky decision imo.

    Heart. They have none. Jimmy Stynes would be rolling over in his grave after what took place against Port Adelaide.

    What are your thoughts on the current situation down at Melbourne?

    Is it just me or does it seem like all our young players with potential over the last 5 years or so just never amount to anything.

    I continuously get excited about young players and then they do nothing....will beinteresting to see how viney goes.

    Something in the culture ain't right

    Yeah, but you look at the time around 2000 and the culture was fine - so what has changed?

    IMO. Jack Watts needs to leave Melbourne. A fresh start at a new club might save his career. At this rate, it wont last long

    I'm assuming Melbourne would have been fairly raped over the past 4~ years in the drafting because of GC and GWS?

    It's all culture. Those who grow up in an elite sporting culture develop into elite sportsmen. There just aren't the leaders at Melbourne; nobody looks like they enjoy it or take responsibility.

    Coaching staff lacking too.

    Okay. Does he look like he is enjoying his footy? Really?

    So many times players leave a club and play like a new man at the new club. Thats what he needs imo.

    Youre kidding yourself if you think he is the player everyone expected him to be.

    Just because he isn't the key forward people wanted him to be doesn't mean he should leave the club.

    Take Andrew Mackie. Drafted 8th, we tried to make him a key forward. No luck. Throw him on a HBF, now a triple premiership player and a mighty fine player. No reason why Watts can't do this at the same level/higher.

    Lacking tough footballers. It was always the same thing last year with Jones and McKenzie the only 2 who really won the contested footy. A whole heap of soft outside footballers who want the footy served up on a platter for them or not at all.

    Problem with the melbourne tigers is they lack stars, teams like NZ and Perff have 3 or 4 stars and a whole heap of role players like Corletto,Bruton etc
