First Round - Top Half Jordan Logan has pulled out the upset of the round somehow, taking over two hours to beat Luka Popovic. The match was not built up to be any big encounter given Logan's lowly singles ranking, but the Englishman came out fighting to everyone's surprise. He lost the first set thanks to a dubious call from the line judge, though Popovic probably did deserve to win that set on merit. If the first set was close, there wasn't a cat's whisker between the two in the second. They matched each other stroke for stroke, noone really able to force a break, or any real action for that matter. It eventually took a tie break to split the two. It then felt like the third set went on for ever, which it kind of did, lasting 22 games. Logan had a chance to win the match normally, but at 6-5 up he broke serve to take us all that way for an extra ten games or so. Remaining seeds Wes Welker, Rob Cribb and Reagan Wheelson all made it through without too much trouble, though Cribb did have to come from a set down and have a few problems with his serve. Joshua Ritchie came from being thrashed 6-0 in the first set by Heath Davis to beating him, though it really could have gone either way. The story was practically the same for Ether Starris, who overcame Alex O'Driscoll in three sets.
