    I'm not sure I'd have them in. I'm a huge fan, but I'm not sure if they'd work anywhere near as well without each other. The same as Pirlo-Gattuso and Vidic-Ferdinand.

    I don't think you should take away from the merit of a player just because of the combinations he might have at his team.

    Even as a stand-alone player, guys like Xavi, Iniesta, Pirlo and Ferdinand are high quality players - among the best in the world.

    Everyone always misses out on defenders.

    The big one was Puyol and maybe Ferdinand, but I can't see Vidic or Terry making that list.

    Yeah, but if I was forced to choose between the two for a spot, I've no idea how I'd decide it. For instance I believe that Terry is better than both Ferdinand and Vidic, but Terry paired up with anybody else still wouldn't come close to those two.

    Vidic has been awesome this season. he has had 3 bad games all season and now people don't think he is a class defender

    That's just the point though. It was only one season. Andrei Arshavin had a brilliant year or so until he moved to Arsenal, in much weaker sides as well, but nobody is throwing his name around.

    Arshavin has been overrated by the media.

    As for Vidic, I've seen him perform for the Serbian national side. He's a fantastic player, no doubt about it, even without Ferdinand, but he has several major flaws in his defensive technique that would force him out of my top 10 TBH. For example, his one-on-ones are deadset terrible.

    IMO he had an amazing season last season and a very good season the year before. I can't really comment on his performances for Serbia because i've not seen many matches
