It'll do for the pre-season, I guess. Might give some of the wider squad a run in the other games.

FB: Dale Morris - Nathan Brown - Nick Suban

HB: Mitch Golby - Mitch Brown - Andrew Mackie
M: Sharrod Wellingham - Scott Selwood - Ben Cunnington
HF: Stefan Martin - David Hale - Chris Masten
FF: Josh Hill - Jack Riewoldt - Kyle Martin
R: Dean Cox - Daniel Rich - Stephen Coniglio
Int: Chris Knights - Brent Macaffer - Daniel Giansiracusa - Chris Yarran
EM: Beau Maister - Tom Logan - Jamie McMillan - Matthew Jaensch - Adam Kennedy - Jack Newnes

    Other Squad members:

    Nick Haynes
    Jason Tutt
    Marley Williams
    Mitch Clisby
    Jamie Elliot

FB: Dale Morris - Nathan Brown - Nick Suban
HB: Mitch Golby - Mitch Brown - Andrew Mackie
M: Sharrod Wellingham - Scott Selwood - Ben Cunnington
HF: Stefan Martin - David Hale - Chris Masten
FF: Josh Hill - Jack Riewoldt - Kyle Martin
R: Dean Cox - Daniel Rich - Stephen Coniglio
Int: Chris Knights - Brent Macaffer - Daniel Giansiracusa - Chris Yarran

    EM: Beau Maister - Forward/Defender
    Tom Logan - Defender
    Jamie MacMillan - Defender/Midfielder
    Matthew Jaensch - Forward
    Adam Kennedy - Defender/Midfielder
Jack Newnes - Wing / HBF
    Nick Haynes - Defender
    Jason Tutt - Forward
    Marley Williams - Defender
    Mitch Clisby - Defender/Wing
    Jamie Elliot - Forward

Therefore, to give some squad members a run, does this work?

FB: Tom Logan - Nathan Brown - Nick Suban
HB: Mitch Clisby - Nick Haynes - Marley Williams
M: Adam Kennedy - Scott Selwood - Jamie MacMillan
HF: Jack Newnes - David Hale - Chris Masten
FF: Josh Hill - Jack Riewoldt - Matthew Jaensch
R: Dean Cox - Daniel Rich - Stephen Coniglio
Int: Jamie Elliot - Brent Macaffer - Daniel Giansiracusa - Chris Yarran

Does any of this make sense or have I fucked this up big time?

I think you'd be overrun with only one key back. Haynes is a 3rd tall at best

  4. HeathDavisSpeed HT Davis

Yeah, this is where my shallowness of AFL knowledge lets me down. Would rotating in Yarran to the starting line up for one of the half backs make a difference? [/outofdepth]

  5. Skippos SM Morgan

Nope, it'd hurt if anything as Yarran's tiny.

Spine is one of the most important things for any afl team. Full Back, CHB, CHF, Full Forward and Ruck. They're you're key position players and every team needs a legitimate one. Sometimes you can get away with only one key forward but never one key back as you'll definitely be left with a 6 foot guy marking a 6'6 guy and that never ends well.

Your key defenders are Nathan Brown and Mitch Brown while Dale Morris is capable of marking both talls and smalls but ideally i'd have him on the 3rd tall. Beau Maister is capable of playing key forward and key back while Stefan Martin would be a stop gap at best down back.

In short, you're a key defender short. I'd certainly look to trade one in.

  6. Skippos SM Morgan

Pretty much if a player is under 189 cm it's safe to assume they're a small defender, over 192cm and it's safe to assume they're a key defender and between 189-192 and they could be either or a utility.

Mackie's 192cm and has taken big forwards before but he's got a slight frame and would be monstered by the genuinely good ones. He'd probably be an okay stop gap too but it wouldn't be ideal.

  7. HeathDavisSpeed HT Davis

Great. That makes sense. I'll have to give this a bit more thought.

  8. HeathDavisSpeed HT Davis

FB: Tom Logan - Nathan Brown - Nick Suban
HB: Mitch Clisby - Beau Maister - Nick Haynes
M: Adam Kennedy - Scott Selwood - Jamie MacMillan
HF: Jack Newnes - David Hale - Chris Masten
FF: Josh Hill - Jack Riewoldt - Matthew Jaensch
R: Dean Cox - Stephen Coniglio - Daniel Rich
Int: Jamie Elliot - Brent Macaffer - Daniel Giansiracusa - Marley Williams

Does that make more sense. So, basically I'm a tall back short and short a full out ruckman.

  9. Skippos SM Morgan

    Looks good

  10. HeathDavisSpeed HT Davis

Skip - can you give me a run down pick-by-pick of where our team's selection went wrong? As far as I can tell, most of my picks have gone pretty well (Cox and Hale in particular) but if I can trade up, I'll try but I think there's a high risk of me getting ripped off.

  11. Skippos SM Morgan

Yeah, sure. PM or in here?

If you're worried about trading, I'm happy to vet any prospective trade you make before it's done if you'd like? It'll save me having to block ones.

Are there any particular areas where I have a lot of depth? I seem to be short of ruckmen, key defenders and midfielders. I'm guessing I have excess Forwards in some way, but I don't think I have any spare Forwards who are going to be worth a hell of a lot in trading terms.

  13. Skippos SM Morgan

You're inundated for small forwards and defenders with not much anywhere else

As a side note maister isn't a good bet for sub. Key position players rarely are; its best to go for a small who'll inject some run.

  14. HeathDavisSpeed HT Davis

I went for him as he can play in a variety of positions.

Would Jamie MacMillan be a better option then?

  15. Skippos SM Morgan

    Yeah, certainly would be

Maister would be better off on field covering those positions when players rotate. It's a bit different to rugby really with the near unlimited interchanges.

Hmmmm. Alessi has a lot to answer for.

I'll swap Maister for MacMillan for now and maybe rotate Maister in for next round.

Fuck me, I've just been buggered haven't it?

FB: Dale Morris - Nathan Brown - Nick Suban
HB: Mitch Golby - Mitch Brown - Andrew Mackie
M: Sharrod Wellingham - Scott Selwood - Ben Cunnington
HF: Stefan Martin - David Hale - Chris Masten
FF: Josh Hill - Jack Riewoldt - Kyle Martin
R: Dean Cox - Daniel Rich - Stephen Coniglio
Int: Chris Knights - Daniel Giansiracusa - Chris Yarran
    Sub: Jamie MacMillan

Presumably I'll have to go with:

FB: Dale Morris - Beau Maister - Nick Suban
HB: Chris Yarran - Mitch Brown - Andrew Mackie
M: Sharrod Wellingham - Scott Selwood - Ben Cunnington
HF: Stefan Martin - David Hale - Chris Masten
FF: Josh Hill - Jack Riewoldt - Kyle Martin
R: Dean Cox - Daniel Rich - Stephen Coniglio
Int: Chris Knights - Daniel Giansiracusa - Nick Haynes
    Sub: Adam Kennedy

    Stefan Martin gone too.

Jaensch had an absolute blinder yesterday IRL btw from half back. He and Clisby would both be worthy additions to most people's 22s.

Jamie Elliott > Kyle Martin too. I'd move Yarran to the forward flank to replace Stef Martin, put Elliott in for Kyle martin then probably haynes/jaensch one at half back and one on the bench

    just my 0.02c

If I have another week of injuries like this, I won't have enough players left. Especially after 2 players are out for 7 & 8 weeks respectively.
