Backs: Sexton (playing Ford at 12), Halfpenny and North on the wings. I'd keep Brown at 15. Saying that though I'd like to see how/if a JJ Manu partnership could work so maybe I'd put Ford on the bench Forwards: I'd maybe drop Wood but I can't decide who I want at 6 to replace him. Parisse in for Morgan who can go back to being super sub is a must but I'd keep Robshaw because I love him. I think we easily have the best tight 5 in the NH though
Feel like you can make arguments for most of those, but I don't think they're necessarily choices you'd make immediately. Parisse is good, but I don't think he's as good as he was a few years ago. Might be a slightly controversial opinion, but I don't think he's *that* much better than Healsip/Falateau/Morgan. Fair enough on the Fofana thing. I was definitely debating putting him on the list, although I think Manu comes back in when he's fit, and it'd be hard to drop Joseph. Could see some rearrangement of the flankers, bringing in a new flanker and either moving Robshaw across, or replacing him entirely. Again, feel like that would be a bit of a bold move. Not sure I agree about Murray and Hogg though.
Brown at his best is much better than Hogg imo. Sure Hogg may have a bit more gas but Brown does everything else better
Hogg's the best open play runner in the NH, IMHO. No slouch in defence either, as he proved with a couple of try-savers yesterday. Wee but wiry, as his countrymen probably wouldn't say.
This is a faintly shite game, eh? One of those were the closeness of the score holds the interest rather than the quality of the play.
Feel like we'd take more All Blacks than we would players from NH nations: Ben Smith, Savea, whoever they pick as their other winger, Aaron Smith, Ruchie, Read, Retallick and probably Conrad Smith.
Yeh not got a bad boot on him either. I do feel Hogg's defence leaves something to be desired when faced with someone who know what they're doing. Yesterday Burrell ran straight at him and Nowell fell over. JJ made him look a tit though
If you look at the 6 nations some positions have huge depth (players not in order) Loose head - Marler, Corbs, Vunipola, Jenkins, Healy all 2nd row - Lawes, Launch, Parling, AWJ, POC, the Gray brothers Full back - Brown, Halfpenny, Kearney, Hogg You'd have to say you'd be happy with any of them turning out for the Lions but other positions.... Hooker - no standouts, all have weaknesses in their game Inside centre - Roberts, one dimensional but effective, Henshaw still developing Wings - North on form but thats not been seen for Wales in a while, Bowe?
Not sure about Retallick; Launchers and Lawes the perfect combo when fit. The rangy lineout specialist and the borderline nutjob enforcer who plays like a third flanker.
0-10 10-17 - Blunder 17-25 - Howe 26-32 - Brumby 32-40 40+ My second beer has hit my optimism stream.
I wouldn't change our tight 5 at all. I'm not saying man for man theyre the best in the world, they just work so well atm.
