Brett Gemmell Number 8/Flanker Some may see this is a controversial desicion, some may not. But nobody can complain why he is here. Possibly one of the best players in Season 2, Gemmell has been doing anything and everything he can to get the Giants to the Grand Final and to win the competition itself. He's one of the top try scorers, from #8. With big competition for the back row on the tour, things aren't looking bright for Gemmell's starting place and we've heard that he'll play more of a utility role. He won't be happy with that, but if he makes the extra effort in training we see no reason why he can't force his way into the team.
LOL It's not my fault! ****ing Matt Stevens! I'll have one last blow out tomorrow and be done with it!
Chris Golding Fly Half/Centre He had to be in the squad, really. The Giants President has been a huge part of Seasonal Rugby's development on and off the field. Alongside Blunder, he is probably one of the only players who regularly plays out of position, and does it to a very high standard. Some say he can officially be considered as a centre nowadays. He's expected to play a few games, but his place is not guarenteed with the huge quality of the SR backline. Eds has admired Golding's talents at 10, 12 and 13 and said he could possibly line up in any of those positions should he need to.
Haha, yeah am I actually registered as Fly Half and Centre, thought I genuinely was a Centre now! Haha. Lies, you know I'll make the team every game I hope.... Haha, covering your own back as it were Fair enough, I don't mind where I play TBH, as long as it's on the pitch for the full 80 mins
Callum Laing Flanker/Hooker Okay, I lied. Callum Laing is Mr Versatile and Eds himself is known to be a real fan of having him at hooker with his inclusion as a flanker being completely justified as well. He's been one of the top performers for seasons now, and an original Seasonal Rugby member. Known as one third of the best backrow in Seasonal Rugby club rugby, at the Spartans, he has been solid and always played his role as an all-round Blindside Flanker. He has brutal on the crash ball and wins more than his fair share of ball. My guess is he'll feature at hooker but the majority of his games will be at #6.
Playing Golding, who has played Centre for 2 seasons at rep and club level at 10 for the Test side would be a mistake IMO. How many games has he even played at 10?
Sam Graham Fly Half/Full Back Another contender for the #10 spot and the #15 spot. He's just nicked a place in the squad, and is possibly one of the more controversial members of the squad. But Ames is a big fan of versability and Graham adds that to an extent. He also gives a goal-kicking option should we need it. We reckon he'll start on the bench and could force his way in if there is an injury, suspension or major drop in form. The Cheetahs back is definately a fine player and one that has a long career ahead of him.
And now we're half way through the SR First XV squad, I am going to announce half the SR Emerging Squad because I am cool.
Possibly, I've played a handful of games, but IIRC the last time I played there the Giants scored 20 points in 20 minutes so who knows what I'm like, I haven't really had the chance to play there - maybe I'm even better than Eds :ninja: But nah, Blunder & Golding centre partnership FTW :ninja:
