Mainly because at that stage no one knew he'd be any good at full back. He played superbly for NZ & Souths, and really that's what gained him selection for the Test squad.
Yeah I guess. This is pretty much the same argument as Blunder's. But he wasn't brought in as a full back, whereas I was. Either way, I am fairly confident of my place at FB for the sharks, and whilst this is important, I still consider my place is the sharks team to be more important.
Your problem is you're competing with Rego for a bench spot. He's proven he can play full back more so that you've proven you can play wing. As such, if he does better than you in this trial, he's likely to get the bench spot to cover Wing/Full Back ahead of you. That's the risk you've got here.
Well to get a fair analysis, surely you need to try both me and Rego on the wing/at full back? Assuming Blunder is obviously going to get the starting line up spot?
