Season 2 Grand Final: Vikings vs. Spartans

...James makes nearly 30m before being caught by a despairing touch by Bobby Blunder. Dave Eggman somehow has worked his way back along with Heath Davis, but there's enough Vikings there to secure the ball from the resulting ruck. From the Spartans 10m line here as play continues.

 

10:00. About 20m into Spartans territory here as Ben Jacobs has been tackled by Alan Izett. It's a great tackle, but there's no one there to support him as Tom Delonge comes in to secure the ball for the Vikings with the help of Andrew James.

James with the ball, but makes little headway before being tackled by Davis. Again, no back up there for the Spartans - some of their forwards proving to be a bit tardy getting to the breakdown here. Welker and Humble come in and protect the ball for Mate Perry to come in.

Perry passes out to Steve Cambridge...

 

...Cambridge breaks clear. Another line break, and the Spartans defense is left scrambling. A few bodies try and track back, but are too late, they just succeed in pushing Cambridge slightly left of the posts.

Hunt with the attempted conversion, but missed.

Vikings lead 5 - 0 with 11 minutes gone.

14:15 Regan Hutchinson with the ball, tackled by Jack Dempsey. Bodies all over the place here Chung, Davis and Denton I think, Lewis, Welker and Manero too I think. Oh, the whistle's gone. Hands in the ruck is the call.

Penalty to the Spartans from about 5m on the Vikings side of the half way line.

That's kick from Ames only gains about 10-15m, but he didn't have much of an angle to work with.

A good attacking line out there. Denton takes the ball soundly. He pushes the ball to Ames and it starts going down the line, gaining a few metres as the Vikings reform their defensive line.

 

Bastard. I lose on Cambo. Bugger. Needed to have the first try scorer book open for longer. Should always make money on that sort of option.
