Is the difference that big though? Like, surely if Eds tears BS to shreds he wouldn't average 20 for Britain.
Yeah because that exact thing hasn't been happening I think it's been largely a fluke when something like that has happened this season though, tbh. When there were only two rep teams there was a genuine gap between the two levels and you got players like Perry who just couldn't step up, but now with the 8/6 split it's largely a coincidence. Eds is neither as good as his BS10 average of 65 or as bad as his rep average of 20 odd; that all his successes have come for one team and all his failures for another is partly due to the increase in standard but mainly a coincidence. The funny thing is that Eds has been a minnow basher even at BS level this season though - he averages 35 in 8 innings against the top three teams this season and 94 in 10 innings against the other four teams. He genuinely does seem to just flog the crap and struggle against the cream.
So considering the standard of the attacks of Victoria and New Zealand would be poor and mediocre attacks, respectively, I'm just seriously unlucky at rep, and lucky at BS?
But it's happened to Luffers before this season too. And the opposite can be said for myself and McGrath.
Well you could say that. I think you bat a lot more confidently in the BS than in rep cricket though; the latter obviously has a higher intensity to it and you choke a bit because you haven't cemented a place. You struggled really early on in the BS too before you broke through and relaxed a bit. Callum's selection policies seem to indicate you'll struggle to ever play for Britain again though.
As I said in that post, it was different before this season as the gap in standard was bigger. We had 8 BS teams and 5 rep teams last season and only four rep teams the season before. The difference between rep cricket and BS cricket has never been less significant than now with the 8-6 split.
Haha yeah. Although, don't think I struggles early on because of choking, so to speak. I was in and out of BS in my first full season and that's why I was dire, just because I was dire. I wasn't exactly awful for the Ravens either. It seems so.
Was obviously exaggerating a touch But yeah, fair enough if it's all chance, that's all good, but will Eds' simming average be significantly worse at rep stuff because he's been shit for Brit or will BS still mean he has a chance at success?
Talking about the intricacies of how the simming averages makes CricSim incomprehensibly boring. Treat it like real life. There are some players who excel at some levels of the game but inexplicably fail at slightly higher levels. There are also some players who turn that around.
Well that's up to Callum more than it is any simming average formula. If I was Eds I'd be [/wrist]ing over a few of his recent calls though. It's not even so much that Eds didn't get picked when Graham was injured.. McDougal of all people getting the call-up when Callum was injured himself, even though Eds obviously wasn't contention for that place, sends a firm message that Callum blacklists players from rep cricket.
