And EA don't fucking make games. Why would the series better off if they were involved?

First off mate, pretty sure there were 3 buttons. And really what I think everyone would be talking about is that ARL 96 had insane amount of replay value - I can still play it today and have fun.

Having Fatty pop up on-screen and give you a feed when you're playing shit would be good though.

Yeah it had replay value. Making a game with replay value, which essentially means making a 'fun' game is a different bag of balls to making a game like ARL '96.

    <3 rabs, <3 life.

Because unlike Tru Blu, EA have shitloads of money.

More funds = better game, features etc.

    Funny that.

First thing I'm going to do when I play career mode is sack Matt Keating.

Oh and convince Hindmarsh to play on.

I hope you can edit the fuck out of teams to get them up to date.

I guess that's why the EA Cricket & Rugby series have been such an overwhelming success!

You are a genius rego. What are you doing still at school?

  9. Rego RS Hutchinson

EA Cricket 07 is the best cricket game ever.

However those games would have been worse if the developers didn't have as much funds to play with.

The EA rugby series had shitloads of licenses, something we probably won't see in another game.

EA being the publisher doesn't automatically guarantee a FIFA game but it all helps.

A publisher is only going to put in a certain percent of what they expect to get back, EA would be no different moneywise.

Righteo pal. Now I know you cop a bit from the fella's, and some say you're a bit of a downy cunt... but I like to judge a book by what's on the inside. You and me Rego, we're good. I don't personally have beef with you, I think you're a good bloke.

...at least that's what I would be saying if you didn't just post that absolute steaming pile of dogshit!

Cricket 07 is terrible. Fucking. Terrible. Maybe for a first release, it would have been acceptable. However, it features the same Stadium models, engine, commentary and playing modes as Cricket 02. You know why that is buddy? it's because EA published the game. They produce games for this market with as little inital outlay as possible, then recuperate the costs by rehashing the same titles year in, year out.

Then you look at the Rugby series. Rugby 2001 - it was the only 3D Rugby/League title released on PC at the time. There's not too much you can say about it, it was a first release and the only one of it's kind.

The next installment was Rugby 04. It is deadset the worst game I've ever played. Ever. It was more than buggy, it was unplayable. Sometimes you would throw a dummy, the animation would cut out and the opposition would somehow have the ball at the other end of the field, scoring a try. Not only that, but the commentators would still be craping on about what a fantastic dummy it was! For the next 5 minutes! Top stuff.

After that we had Rugby 06, which had Wendell Sailor as a white guy playing for the NZ Maori, and the inability to punt a ball more than 15 metres.

Rugby '08 was next, now in fairness it actually had a gameplay overhaul. It had set passes and a franchise mode which was pretty cool. You still couldn't punt a ball more than 15 metres from behind cam, and some might say kicking the ball is a pretty important feature of rugby but whatever. You could attack the head and cheat in the ruck.

Now, the latest version was greatly anticipated. Rugby world cup 2011. Four years after the development of 08', for $79.95 you would expect a few changes right?

    Wrong.

It is exactly the same game, with the omission of franchise mode, tournament play bar the world cup, licensed teams and venues, and somehow equally as shit graphics with the exact same animations.

Oh and you still can't kick a ball properly.

Then you have the hide, to come out and say that 'EA Rugby have a shitload of licenses, something we won't see in another game'. Which is completely retarded because A), the only license EA have is for the World Cup tournament, B) We're not talking about Rugby, we're talking about league, and C) EA have no licenses for Rugby League at all.

You should hang your head in shame and seriously consider killing yourself.

You do realise that the RWC 2011 game wasn't published by EA, right??? That game is awful, and has fuck all licenses.

In all fairness though I just said what I said trying to defend the kent that said that EA made games. Trying to twist it. Kind of annoys me how people reckon shits made by EA. You have to feel sorry for the developers that get shit all recognition.

However I still stand strongly by the statement that the more funds to play with the more features that can be seen. Anything gameplay wise is all down to the abilities of the developers. However you'd think the more funds = more hours = better graphics and overall everything. However as has been stated just because EA is the publisher, doesn't mean they'll be chucking $19838767655764865 at any game.

Sound's like they way the rugby league games have been made similar anyway.

KK has hit the money re: RWC. Was just Rugby 08 with new rosters.

  15. Skippos SM Morgan

RWC was developed by HB Studios or whatever, the same brand that developed Rugby 08 which was published under the EA Sports name. You're right there - EA didn't make 08, nor did they make RWC - however in publishing 08 they owned up to it. HB changed to 505 for the publishing of RWC, but given it was the same everything inside, people just associate it as EA.

EA last made rugby 05 I think. 06 was a mix of them and HB and HB took 08.

Rugby 05 was actually an alright game.

ftr cricket 07 was all form of shitness

and I don't understand why you are obsessed over licenses I'd prefer a game with realistic gameplay and having to edit all the player names/put up with fucked names/teams/stadiums than having licenses but shit gameplay.
