Buffon is injured when you start a new game and Capello is one of the best managers in the game surely he wouldn't sit Buffon on the bench.

Meh. I thought I fixed the database. Basically what happened was about half of the teams had almost all of their players added to another team. Some teams still had 23 players and I checked a couple and they were fine. Turns out yours weren't. There's also an issue with injuries with players like Buffon. I cleared all the injuries (to get rid of the pre-season injuries as well) a couple days before the first game, but now that I think about it, the manager had probably already submitted a squad list without him on it (since he was a long term injury). I'm going to go back and the database and clean it up more and clear the injuries from within the database. Will then restart this. This can be seen as a trial run (I was thinking of doing this anyway because I hadn't set the matches to full detail).
Actually, what's really, really weird is when I looked in the database, Scott Parker was still in SM's team.
