Don't see Australia winning the group anyway because I don't think their pack could take England's footing out like Wales could on a good day.

Well they did just draw with a full strength ABs quite recently remember. And they have world class players at 15, 12, 10 and 7.

Correct. I know I still consider Aus more of a threat than any NH team tbh.

Nah I reckon Ireland are more of a threat. Top class side mixed with uncertainty (we didn't play them this year) a pretty real threat.

What about the other 7 forwards.

  7. Fiery GR Smith

Well I will be more worried about England, than Ireland, if we face them in the playoffs. Australia and I will be bricking it before the game tbh.

  8. Fiery GR Smith

    They're all quality players

  9. Fiery GR Smith

    Not scared of Ireland tbh

Dude we nearly lost to them the last time we played them. They're a lot better now too.

  11. Fiery GR Smith

I know and I count on the ABs being a lot better in a year too.

Maybe but saying you're "not scared of Ireland" is ridiculous. They're who I'm predicting are the biggest threats - easiest run till the Semis, top notch side. If you're writing them off then you're basically saying the AB's will breeze the whole world cup, if so that's very naive.

I'm not scared of Ireland. Never have been. They have never beaten us...and I don't see that changing any time soon. Especially with this AB team, which is up there with one of the best in our history. I am not saying the ABs will breeze the WC. They might do that however. I am just saying I am more concerned about SA and Aus and even England, than Ireland. Not afraid of France at all any more like I used to be. It's likely someone will knock Ireland out before we get to them anyway imo. That's not naivety FFS, that's confidence...and about 25 more years of experience and rugby knowledge to call upon than you Rego ;)

I'll call it now. Ireland will win pool D, then beat Argentina in the quarters, then lose to Australia or England in the semi.

Even if they do win that semi, they will get beat by us in the final...(or SA...heaven forbid)

Often the easiest run is a bad thing if your aren't favorites. You need a test to bring the side closer toget her.

Yes and no. For inconsistent teams I agree. They play France in pool play so a somewhat decent game there. The semi will be a cracker. Both semis will be.

But I disagree with Fiery completely rubbing Ireland off. Ireland and England are the biggest threats IMO. South Africa in 3rd since we'll probably meet them in the semis and if they beat us well it's all over anyway. So Ireland or England.

    Australia not so much.

I haven't completely written them off tbh. I just said I wasn't scared of them. I would go into a final v Ireland a hell of a lot more confident than one against England, SA or Aus. That's all I'm saying. That's not "rubbing Ireland off". They may well prove me wrong and go on and win the whole thing for all I know. I just can't see it happening.

Have you seen Ireland play of late?

I mean everyone completely rubbed France off in 2011 after we smashed them in pool play, that was the most tense I've ever been in my rugby life.

The World Cup does things to teams, Ireland are decent. They just need to play their potential and it could go either way. England as well plus there's home advantage for them. Actually a lot of these NH teams will have a greater home fan presence than us.

I reckon this is gonna be an awesome WC regardless. A lot of competition there.

Tbh the All Blacks have been pretty shit this year, not many truly good performances. We've been scrappy as hell. Sure we're still winning these games but we won't in a WC situation. We need to be flawless.

Maybe I'm too harsh on the boys (as some rugby blokes give me cop for) but when we're the best in the world, a rugby country etc. I expect high end performances. Our sloppiness worries me tbh. Just takes us to be like that in the final and bang bye bye WC.

Yes. And I expect Sexton to bottle it at the WC ;)
