With their premiership victory in season seven now seeming an eternity ago, the Ravens are looking to shake the poor form of their last two seasons with a new look line up that is sure to see the iconic club resurrect past glories. Only a handful of players remain following their lone Bannerman Shield title, with only two or three likely to claim regular top grade spots in season ten. But the Ravens have looked back in moving forward, re-signing former team favourite, HG Emm. “He's a quality bowler.” bragged Ravens President RG Cribb. “We've got a lot of good spinners at the club for the upcoming season, but I think he thrives on that - he's always performed a lot better when he has to work for his spot.” A CricSim journey man, Emm’s career began way back in season two, playing for the now defunct Allstars. The off spinner has also spent time at the Crusaders and Cyclones, as well as a three-game stint at the Sticky Wickets after a self enforced exile from the Bannerman Shield. But it was with the Ravens where Emm felt most at home. His three seasons at the then fledgling club coinciding with their most successful era which included two grand final appearances for one win. “It's been no secret that I've always had a desire to return to the Ravens.” said Emm. “I owe them a lot... and I figured it was best to forgo my usual late sign up so we can get this side sorted.” “He's had stints at other clubs because he's a bit of a party animal and wanted to experience different scenes” added Cribb. “But his heart lies here. It's great to have him back.” When asked on his goals for season 10, Emm was typically humble. “Realistically my best form is probably behind me. I'm hoping my batting will improve but... just being a part of the Ravens culture again will be great.” “A few of the premiership boys are still around, if we could capture the flag it'd be good to be a part of.” The Raven’s title hopes however don’t rest solely on HG Emm’s broad shoulders with the club extremely active in the player transfer market according to Cribb. “The main difference we've made to our recruitment this season is a concerted effort to recruit personalties who will improve the social aspect of the club, without worrying too much about the balance of the squad.” “We've signed Frosty from the Vipers, Deane from the Cyclones and Denton from the Stickies.
