You're probably right, but I thought he played bloody well at Eden Park at blindside. He's in the form of his life IMO

Oh I agree, has absolutely out shined Messam this year. Just plays better at 8. Canes having Shields at 6, Ardie at 7 and Vito at 8 just suits so bloody well. I really hope that come play offs, Vito is first choice. Messam is past it but will probably play the Tonga game since he's apparently out for this Georgia one.

  3. Squeaks ZW Poole

Yeah poor Messam was so good when Kaino left but just can't perform in his shadow for some reason. A lack of opportunity probably doesn't help. But well pass it I think, hope he does come right though as he is yet to record a WC game and he deserves that much.

You talking first choice over Messam or are you saying over Kaino? I don't think there is any doubt it will be Kaino, McCaw, Read. And then I'm thinking Vito and Cane on the bench as they will come on at the 55-60 minute mark for Whitelock and Kaino and really look to up the pace of the game.

I'm saying Vito first choice over Messam. That being said I do think Vito is actually better than Kaino atm. Vito does go a little quiet towards the end of games but that's a perfect time to bring Kaino in. That being said I'm fully aware that won't happen. Kaino is first choice with Vito on the bench.

I can see how Kaino could be viewed as great impact the the All Blacks want to impact to be pace rather than size and strength. Hence Vito and Cane.

Really want to see the boys click in the next few weeks. Would be great in the quarter, semi, final to see a close game up to the 50-55 minute mark and then us to just pull away and score two or three tries after bring the bench on and picking up the pace of the game even more.

Yeah we certainly didn't do that in the last game and I think the opposition seemed to get better.

We didn't dominate like we should have.

Are you not worried that after a reasonably easy pool you will be undercooked for the knock out stages or bubbling along nicely with no injury worries?

  8. Notsure SM Green

I would rather have the easy pool than pool a.

I don't think the All Blacks pool is that much of a problem. To me our biggest weakness can be our breakdown clean out and set pieces, and against teams like Tonga and Georgia the breakdown clean will be tested well. We get some go forward and the ball out wide and we rip any team apart doesn't matter if it's Australia or Georgia.

I think if we face France in the quarters that will be a good warm-up.

As long as we don't psych ourselves out because it's our boogie team.

All Blacks team to play Georgia at Millennium Stadium, kick-off 8am Saturday:
    15. Ben Smith
    14. Waisake Naholo
    13. Conrad Smith
    12. Sonny Bill Williams
    11. Julian Savea
    10. Dan Carter
    9. Aaron Smith
    8. Kieran Read
    7. Richie McCaw (c)
    6. Jerome Kaino
    5. Sam Whitelock
    4. Brodie Retallick
    3. Charlie Faumuina
    2. Dane Coles
    1. Wyatt Crockett
Reserves: Keven Mealamu, Tony Woodcock, Owen Franks, Victor Vito, Sam Cane, Tawera Kerr-Barlow, TJ Perenara, Malakai Fekitoa.

Basically a pretty strong team with a few excluded to rest (Nonu and NMS) - weird having 2 HB's on the bench. I wonder if Savea is gonna be rested at all???

  12. Notsure SM Green

Is that your full strength front row? Have the selectors lost faith in Woodcock/Franks?

  13. Squeaks ZW Poole

Have no option but to put two halfbacks on with both Barrett and Slade injured.

Surprised to see Kaino playing, when are they going to give the man a rest... Also SBW starting as Nonu is injured.

    Notsure
Hansen has said apart from those injured he has selected what he thinks is the best 23, so has quite possibly lost faith in Woodcock and Franks. Or to be more positive wants to see the impact they can have in the last 20 compared to the impact Crockett and Charlie have. Depending on how they play the front row could be very interesting come playoffs.

Haven't seen the new in the past few days... tell me about these injuries...

  15. Squeaks ZW Poole

Slade - hamstring (Which is why he went off in the second half against Namibia)
Barrett - Neck (Whiplash from a tackle early in the game)
    Messam - Calf
Nonu - Injured his shoulder in training

  18. Squeaks ZW Poole

Said if it was a final then they could play so no, just resting them really.
