This is true to an extent - Yates has good hole-running, so he's going to relying on receiving the ball from players with good creativity ratings. However, you're missing two things: 1. Boobidy has a good creativity rating. The fullback actually does receive the ball from a lock a fair few times throughout a match (particularly if the lock is creative and the fullback isn't) so this'll really help. 2. All fullbacks pounce on offloads. If a forward takes the ball up, Yates is going to be sniffing around. Not only is Boobidy going to get more offloads anyway than any other lock, but the offloads will be creative as well and put Yates into holes. There's no denying that a good creative half would help Yates immensely too - maybe even more than a creative lock - but you shouldn't under-estimate Boobidy's potential to really enhance Yates's potential just because he isn't the only player who will use him.
Both of these will produce gaps. Yates will be good at exploiting them in both ways. If Gemmell wasn't playing and there was someone like Marcuss at lock or just another second rower, it'd severely limit his ability to exploit gaps the way Gemmell said.
Yeah, if a forward gets an offload away, he'll either be trying to directly cause a break via the offload (in which case the fullback will usually get it) or he'll be trying to create an entire second phase of play (usually a backline movement) where the half on that side of the field would get the ball. There's nothing stopping the half just taking off on a run when he receives the offload though, particularly if he's a good runner like you.
So that actually works out quite gun for me then. I can either go for a break off an offload, or start the second phrase play. So I should be close to a creative forward (which I should be as I'll be on the creative side). Loving how real this thing is. Creates some interesting discussion too. I think this sim is exactly what the RLSim needs.
Yeah, that's precisely why I always say that metre-makers should go on the organisational side and hole-runners + offloaders should go on the creative side.
Yeah, play-by-play commentary for a start. For example: 39:17 - Tackle 1 - 50m out - John Morris plays it to Robbie Farah; who throws a flat pass to Keith Galloway; who hits it up and makes 8m; Petero Civoniceva and Paul Aiton make a stong tackle and wrap up the ball.
21:31 - Tackle 5 - 10m out - Cameron Smith plays it to Cooper Cronk; who throws a deep pass to Billy Slater; who throws a pass to the winger; pass goes over the sideline. Must be in it IMO.
33:33 - Tackle 3 - 40m out - Cameron Smith plays it to Cooper Cronk; who throws a deep pass to an open Matt Geyer; who runs with just the fullback to beat; oh no he broke a leg; surely the fullback should tackle him no problem; Karmichael Hunt misses the tackle, try!
