    No way. Surely. I mean they just did in the womens tournament and that's a fucking farce. At least go on goal difference and the other usual tiebreakers and if all even, just have like a penalty shootout between the two teams or something. As ridiculous as it may sound, at least it's decided on the pitch and not predetermined by a bunch of crooks.

    A UEFA bobo was quoted in Norwegian papers today as saying 'this is the way we're doing it for 2016 unless you have a better idea' (chuck it through google translate).

    Goal difference is out of question because of the fixing potential, apparently.

    Penalty shootout on neutral ground the following day was mooted. Though with 6 groups the break between group stages and R16 won't be more than 1 day, so they'll have to do it on the rest day and potentially wouldn't know the R16 lineup until 1 day before. I don't like that either but it's better than a drawing of lots.

    Maybe UEFA ranking.

    Agreed, or make the group stage such that issues like this avoided. 8 groups of 3 and the top 2 advance or the winner advances.

    Perhaps have 7 groups in qualifying and the 7 group winners (+ hosts) are given an automatic bye in the first round and just have a knockout stage with the remaining 16 entrants which will yield 8 teams and then have a 16 team tournament following the initial 24.

    They surely can't let Benzema go as well as Higuain? He started on Saturday and Bale's hardly a direct replacement. I guess Di Maria could leave, plays the same position as Walcott though.
