Potential to open a can of worms if FIFA allow it tbh. Is sad that they can't do it, but can fully understand the reasoning behind it. Many regimes/countries in the word would want to do the same too then on potentially more divisive issues or what they feel is right or even to make a point against other countries, and it could open a Pandora's box once allowed.
Get all players to wear a shirt with poppies underneath it and then show it when they score. Doubt they'll score against Spain though.
Finally managed to catch the Arsenal/WBA highlights. Wtf was Vermaelen doing lurking on the edge of the WBA 18 yard box to score his goal?
Yes it is. Black armband is something common and used to mourn for someone or for a incident at the time. Much different to war/conflict related symbols which can be divisive and have political meaning. Not saying wearing a Poppy would be, but in the future can think of many situations where it could then become a precedent and cause problems for FIFA. England could wear Black armbands too, i guess if they aren't different.
Semi-agree with this. Once you start getting into different symbols it could definitely get out of hand. This is obviously an exaggerated example, but what if a German team wanted to put swastikas on their shirt in the 1940s?
This whole poppy palava has got out of hand really. The F.A always complicate situations more than they need to. The English team are playing, it's close to rememberance Sunday the British Legion etc are doing there best to raise money by selling the poppies, as they always do. How can it no be so simple, as to just let the national team wear a normal small poppy FFS!!!!
