Its a very interesting post to TSTL Doesnt mean thats exactly whats going to happen, but its a very valid veiw point non the less But, what about them saying the club was for sale in April? and having offers lined up? If you were going to sell the club you wouldnt want to get rid of the key assests, like Gerrard, like Torres. Buyers arnt going to walk into a failing club, which is what it will be if they sell the biggest names. Whichever way it does go its deffinantly gonna be an interesting topic for the next few weeks while they are organising replacements ect
Why not? Players are not stable assets, their values fluctuate much more than the property market for example. One gains value as it gets older the other decreases in value. From a purely business perspective selling them and investing the money in something more stable wouldn't be a bad option. The fatty from cesspool has an interesting theory but apart from that all he does is ask plenty of questions that would be asked of any new manager. Even if you ignore the fact the owners are there Benetiz would probably be getting the sack at any other club anyway or under any other administration at Liverpool unless Marto was running the place.
You cant treat football like any other business. Its not like Cadburys selling old machines while they can so they can invest in new ones. Theres very few players like Gerrard and Torres that come along. No matter how much you invest in youths. Your very unlikely to find others that can be just as valuble to the club no matter how much times invested in them. Also, what are you going to do while your waiting for them to reach potential? Without Torres and Gerrard (maybe Reina if we work off the make as much money as you can now approach) Liverpool are assentially, a bottom half club. That means you get less money from not being in Europe, less money from shorter cup runs. Less money from positioning lower in the league. I mean whats a position worth these days? like 2-3 million? Whats getting to the knock out stages in the CL worth? Quite a bit more If we do look at it from pure business then its a good short term investment. But in the long run, the risk certainly doesn't = reward when it comes to selling your best players. hmmm longgggg post, iv not even read it back
It's ****ing ridiculous to suggest he didnt care about the Premiership. He must be pretty bloody good to manage a team to second (a few points off winning it) last season if he didn't care. Imo he's a brilliant manager and was the voice of the fans when it came to the real enemy here - the owners. Absolutely terrible if he leaves. We will not be able to replace him with a better manager.
I clearly stated 'From a purely business perspective' so yes in my argument I can treat football like any business. Doesn't mean I agree with it or that it's best for the football club but in terms of assets and that's the word you used I just pointed out my opinion on a purely business perspective again if you missed it the second time.
Thats why my final (second final) bit was about how I felt it was bad from a purley business view point
Can't see too many of the main players leaving TBH. Wafa leaving gives us more of a chance of retaining players like Gerrard and Torres IMO, as apparently they had fallen out with Wafa
