The allies numbered four, and knew there was a traitor among them. Phlegm continued to claim he was dorian - but Bedsey and Dougy seemed awfully certain of his guilt. Eventually, realising he was no chance of winning, Phlegm confessed his guilt - his final act admitting himself in order to help the allies succeed. Realising there was no other option, Phlegm was lynched.

Phlegm has been lynched. He was Dalek Caan, The First Dalek

    -----

The allies celebrated, for they had survived the enemy invasion. While The Doctor was dead, there were no enemies left. Knowing that there was a machine blocking regeneration aboard the Sontaran ship - Martha and Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart travelled to the ship and destroyed the machine. The Doctor could then regenerate, and he did. The Doctor and Martha Jones then continued their travels, dropping off Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart on earth.

Rassilon had achieved all he wanted. He cared about nothing aside from his own survival. A man so powerful, yet feared death so much. And he avoided it - and knowing that he could regenerate, he now knew he avoided it.

However, there is one thing Martha did not consider, and that was The Master. Could he now regenerate? Only time will tell.

Now - before everyone complains, the game was actually very balanced I thought. The mafia clearly disagree - and I've seen townies complain too.

There was an element of realism however. I didn't want it to be like a normal mafia game where it should be 50/50 (never is though) - I wanted the mafia to be underdogs. More like $2.00 town, $3.00 mafia, $6.00 third party or something. In Doctor Who - the Doctor always wins. Why should the mafia have a win on a platter? I think they had every chance - highlighted by the fact that if Dougy had chosen to side with Flem, they'd have won. As would he - he could have gone either way as he'd have won either way (unless flem went full retard and killed him).

Before Phlegm and Cribb complain - remember that GingerFurball - a framer, and someone I expected to last through the game, was lynched by The Master. Now, I, to a degree, expected some degree of mafia infighting but not that. In doing that however - the master gained the ability to kill. It was in his best interests but also his downfall. I thought he'd be more subtle about it. They also got a cop on Howe N1 and Mariner soon after. Most games it's like D3 before a mafia hit. The town had an awesome start.

What really, really fucked it up for them however was lynching McGrath. Phlegm wanted to have control (and I loved it - well done btw you made it really entertaining) so sent McGrath a message saying we know who you are (via process of elimination) and to kill heath tonight.

McGrath actually complied. But he also had to search for River Song - he got to search 2 people per night so as the game went on he had a good chance of finding her. He PM'd me after his actions saying - change to steve. I assumed, as he had one kill target and 2 search targets, and he hadn't unsearched anyone - he was changing his kill. He wasn't - but it was too late. (Heef was protected that night so the kill would have failed, lol) - so Phlegm wanted to prove a point and kill him.

If Phlegm hadn't done that, they'd have potentially had two more mafia.

They can claim they were doomed, but they weren't - essentially two to three of their own were slain by them. Eds dying early also wasn't great - and killing Downes the day that he was going to kill someone for them was also an excellent idea.

The Master was a role I constructed for a bit of a change. Mafia games were getting stale, and I wanted a changeup. It worked but it pissed off the mafia. I definitely could have constructed it better, I'd be the first to agree - such as making everyone anonymous or allowing the master to win with the mafia (however if he could what purpose would the anonymity of factions serve).

I think if Cribb had kept active it'd have been a much different story too. He can blame me for his inactivity but really - provided he kept active, at the moment of his 'going inactive' I'd say it was 65/35 in the mafias favour.

There was a cop and a detective in the game. There were a few one use detects/cops in the game. Nothing more. Only Baxter and Athers really had the power to clear each night. In a 33 man game I think that's fair. Bedsey's role was gun at the end but if he was killed early it was pointless.

Essentially - I know some people will slaughter me for the mechanics of the game, and with good reason in some instances but I tried, and I think it was better/more balanced than some people will say. I should be allowed to defend myself :)

Thanks everyone for playing. Hope you all enjoyed it.

Called all 3 Daleks in Silence discussion. Knew there were only some who were arrogant enough to go on their own. Also dont know if i was supposed to have access the the enemies discussion or not.

  7. morgieb MC Burridge

    Yes! Good win peeps!

Strong performance by the town. Only one night did we not lynch a threat.

  8. Skippos SM Morgan

Enemies discussion was made with 15 or so left, once you'd died essentially - so nah.

You outing the Daleks upon death was terrible, man.

  9. Number 11 CJ Downes

Yeah wtf was with McGrath outing Daleks.

  10. Phlegm SP Phlegm

You should have won by more than you did tbh. The opportunities were there. I thought we were goners a few times.

    Fair play though.

I'm sorry Skippos, but game play comes before theme. Always.

Enjoy teh lulz in those QT's.

Not to shabby for my first attempt at a Mafia game outside of the Rays subbie.

I won't lie....at times my head was spinning during this game. I still have a lot to learn.

  15. Riddy JH Ridd

tbf was a complex game in terms of characters etc, especially if you didnt really know the theme that well.

  16. Skippos SM Morgan

I feel the gameplay was incredibly complex but still quite even. Would like to hear some townies thoughts on the balance

    Town ftw.

Soooo, did Cribbage visit me on night 3? I've assumed that when people visited, their character was revealed to me which is why I cleared him (under the assumption that as a companion of the doctor, he was town-sided - quite possible that my complete lack of any idea re: dr who has screwed me over here, does Harkness actually turn in the tv series?). I knew it was phlegm that killed me as well, meaning I was kinda hoping there was some way I could get back into the game and out him.

Not sure if it was simply because I knew who he was, but whilst it helped the town, people seemed to overlook just how suspicious phlegm was in the way he just about blew his load in excitement when trying to lynch McGrath (was quite amusing reading ftr :p)

Also got a chuckle reading the thread after I'd died, and noticing that some posters clearly "believe" certain posters over others simply because they like them more as a member of the forum, despite the fact that their argument is in some instances far less convincing.

And if The Silence got River, McGrath and Cevno there was no way for total Dalek victory, which you have neglected to mention was our major objective and I bet it was the rest of their objectives as well. I never wanted them to find River.

That and McGrath for three nights went rogue. He needed bringing into line and to not go through with the threat would make the Daleks look weak.

I do think in hindsight it was a tactical stuff up, and it was influenced by being pissed, but it didn't decide the game - it actually meant we could achieve our major victory condition.

But anyway, I've said enough. Thank you for running the game Skippos. Despite my whinging, I had fun most of the time. I loved the character you gave me.

  19. Mousey AJ Son

    He was mad probs

Anyway great game. I thought it was really well run and pretty fair. It went down to Dougy's decision which says it all imo

After Phlegms bus i wasnt prepared to let the Dalek win. Let it be know i didnt out Blunder who i suspected either
