The best box to box midfielder in the world IMO. Yep, slightly above Toure too.

Was expecting your rebuttal. Each to their own, I guess.

    Don't rate Schweinsteiger?

  5. Verigoat S Verigotta

If he was better than Toure, Speirz would have got him instead of Toure

  6. Speirz DG Speirs

Xabi Alonso to consider as well.

I rate Vidal, but not that highly. He'd sit about 4th or 5th on my list in that role. Which in fairness is about where he's been picked up, so it's a gun pick.

    Xabi Alonso box-to-box? Hm.

Even if you do think he is a B2Bmid, he hasn't been as good as he usually is, this season, IMO.

  9. Verigoat S Verigotta

Oh ye its definatley a gun pick

But hes not the best in the world

  10. Speirz DG Speirs

Not up to his usual standards, no. And I reckon he'd spend more time higher up the park than Vidal, he's just in a more attacking side so you don't notice as much.

I really rate Schweini, Toure and another certain one that hasn't been picked yet but Vidal just edges it. This is my opinion, anyway (A point that seems to be evading Veri).

Vidal just needs some performances outside Italy or over a longer period of time to really convince me he's in that class.

Disagree, but I don't have anything to back it up, so you may be right.

I suppose it depends who Juve play with in the middle, really. Sometimes Vidal sits fairly deep when [Player X] plays, but Alonso always sits fairly deep for Madrid (from what I've seen, anyway).

Fair enough. He's been absolutely phenomenal under Conte's system and Juve just don't look the same without him tbh. I'd argue that he is their most important player. I know a few people will argue Pirlo but Pirlo isn't able to do what he does best unless Vidal is on the field with him. When he plays for Italy, De Rossi handles the defensive side of things. I think the threat he poses on the counter-attack is what sets him apart from the rest. I mean, I rate Toure on that front as well but Vidal is just slightly better.

Like Eds said here, it was going to be perfect.

The biggest difference is that Juve sit deeper and counter more through the middle, so you can really notice Vidal driving forwards with the ball or trying towin the second ball off the strikers. Alonso on the other hand plays a role that to me is a bit of a combination of Pirlo and Vidal. He still playmakes from deep when the situation calls for it, and is probably most valuable for Madrid there, but he's still likely to be involved with some of the interplay up front. It's a role he does brilliantly for Spain with Xavi and Busquets.

Ye, all hed need then is a teenage united reject and hed have a midfield which is capable of defeating all those quality serie A teams
