Yeah he's every chance to go 60+ hitouts. Grundy was getting out-rucked by Griffiths a couple weeks ago
To be fair a fit Sandilands will probably dominate most ruckmen in the comp. Reid and White both need to pass fitness today if they're going to play
Reid and White ruled out. I suppose it'll be Grundy and Hudson rucking with Cloke up forward. Maybe Q-Stick too.
I'd prefer if Witts played tbh. Playing Hudson over Witts will do nothing but kill Witts' confidence, especially as someone at the club said that Hudson will be used only if Witts and Grundy aren't available. May as well play a young player who will hopefully be at the club for 10+ years rather than play a 35 year old in what is looking like his last year.
Hudson is better than Witts though. Getting dropped after one week when White comes back would hurt his confidence too.
With White and Reid out leaving Cloke our only key forward, the back up ruckman will need to spend a lot of time forward. I'd back Witts in to do more damage in the forward line than Hudson which is why he should get picked. Hudson will do a lot around the ground but as a resting key forward I'd much prefer Witts.
Round 1 team: B: A.Toovey, N.Brown, N.Maxwell HB: T.Goldsack, J.Frost, T.Langdon C: S.Sidebottom, B.Macaffer, T.Adams HF: D.Beams, T.Cloke, J.Elliott F: B.Kennedy, J.Witts, D.Swan Ruck: B.Grundy, S.Pendlebury, H.Lumumba Int: L.Ball, B.Sinclair, M.Clarke, C.Young Emg: Q.Lynch, T.Armstrong, L.Keeffe Very surprised to see Keefe named emergency. The coaching staff obviously have a lot of faith in Jack Frost. Great to see Toovey back as well, we really missed him last year. Freo have put a pretty strong team together so will be a very tough game
Yeah I was thinking originally that Brown will go to Pav, Keefe the resting ruckman and Toovey to Mayne. Now I'm not sure what the matchups will be. Luckily Gumbleton isn't playing as that would have thrown another spanner in the works
Terrible start last night. We can only can better tho with the likes of Reid, White, Dwyer, Fasolo and Josh Thomas to come back into the side.
He's coming back from injury. Played in the VFL praccy match yesterday and got in the best along with Dwyer and J Thomas
Still haven't managed to catch the game from the weekend but a few injuries have come about Brown out for 4-6 weeks is a good result considering it was mentioned that a shoulder reco was a possibility. Sinclair out for 1-2 weeks with a hammy strain is a big loss as he's been playing well off half back. Pendles also had some scans on his ankle today so he may be in some doubt
I can't really comment as I didn't see any of the match but the club has said that there are no issues with him. He didn't spend much time forward in Round 1 so not sure what's going on.
